I listen to art/programming streams on twitch

True, I save a lot of time when I can't read an article I clicked on because it's behind a paywall!

This was also discussed in a good book about sleep I read a few weeks ago: Why we sleep https://www.amazon.com/Why-We-Sleep-Unlocking-Dreams/dp/1501...

And if you want to learn more about why its important to sleep, you should read the book "why we sleep" https://www.amazon.com/Why-We-Sleep-Unlocking-Dreams/dp/1501... which is where I found this list.

I saw a great documentary on that topic called "Space Race" which showed the difference between the US and Soviet space program.

"#USSJohnSMcCain suffered steering loss approaching Strait of Malacca, unclear why crew couldn't utilize back-up -Navy official"

The combination: books tend to summarize better while videos explain better

While researching I also found this article: http://hatrabbits.com/why-sleep-deprivation-is-not-the-key-t...

It argues that you should sleep if you are going to do some analytical and logical thinking, and not sleep if you are going to come up with creative ideas. But some come up with creative ideas after sleeping (it was Elon Musk who said he came up with the best ideas in the shower after sleeping), so the area is confusing.

Go to https://www.kaggle.com/, pick a project, and apply all algorithms to the problem to see which one is the best.

Wow, looks amazing. However I thought of finding my own niche / domain. This seems very structured on the one hand but would prevent me from finding my own small world to apply my new acquired knowledge on.

You don't have to stick on Kaggle forever. It is a fantastic resource for learning to apply ML techniques to real life data sets. Spend some time getting good at doing that and then move onto your own domain

Find a side project! I felt the same and decided to write a book and make a few games and other applications. I've never felt stuck since I began those projects.
