Edit: but apparently I was wrong and the "countdown" was just the time left of the audiobook. But the mobile UI was stuttering, so that wasn't clear. But thinking about it, I am surprised it ain't implemented yet for real.

Try Lemmy, not sure about the whole "followers" count but you can do exactly what you've described on Lemmy today on any topical community or AskLemmy to get you started. You can ask or start basically any kind of conversation you want and gets very decent engagement

Have you tried the 3D versions? They're made in Unity I think but they can be profoundly relaxing even as they get more difficult and pick up speed.
