Would love to see if your prose in French is better than mine in English ;)

That's what I try to say in the article. This is "A" possible future, and it is a first iteration of a totally new product. The first iPhone wasn't a success, and many people were convinced a phone without a keyboard couldn't be the future.

-----

I'm certainly curious what metric you're using when considering the first iphone to be unsuccessful...

The iPhone 3G was the blockbuster hit. The first iPhone was at best modestly successful. The most obvious indicators were that Apple gave it a significant price drop after 3 months and then introduced another model with more storage after 7 months to bolster sales.

It wasn't as popular as today's iPhones.

It was successful for a first gen device, but it pales in comparison to today's success of iPhone.

Mr. Lacker being a double Putnam Fellow is part of the reason I moved 8,956 km to join Parse. Also, he teaches me the American culture.

Yes, really.

Another way to make the reading experience much better would be to not use the color black. This article explains pretty well why you should never use this color. http://ianstormtaylor.com/design-tip-never-use-black/

Agree but the new interface is jaring enough. I wanted to use bog standard colors.

For the ebook reader on the main page at magicscroll.net you can set it to use Ethan Schoonover's solarized colors: http://ethanschoonover.com/solarized which I prefer to the black on white.

That's actually a good point, and we're currently working at getting rid of this animation for this exact same reason. Sorry if you had a bad experience because of that.

We like using CSS animations as long as they don't hide any content, because we think they create a much more enjoyable experience on our marketing pages. We try to use them only when it makes sense, and in that case, indeed, it does not. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, sorry about that. Some of the CSS3 features I use are not supported by Firefox yet. I'm explaining that in the blog post.

Thanks for sharing this, Gregory!

Congrats!!
