Real World Haskell isn't a very good introductory text. Some of the early chapters are riddled with errors and confusing, contradictory instructions.

Learn You a Haskell For Great Good! is one of the better introductory programming books I've read, and the author writes in a ridiculously fun and easy-to-read style.

"ridiculously fun and easy-to-read style"

But if you find 'fun' and large amounts of text distracting, then Graham Hutton's 'Programming in Haskell'[1] is a better introduction to what Haskell is about.
