Their website is all AI generated and as far as I can tell, the only thing of substance on it is this cube: https://www.scraplabs3d.com/_next/image?url=%2FPXL_20260114_...

Their YouTube channel contains no video, no audio, and no images of the product. Red flag is red.

I wouldn't know -- perhaps the HN Hug of Death™ is in play

I wish them the best, but to my knowledge most metal laser sintering setups involve powders so fine as to be both a fairly serious health concern and (depending on the metal) a plausible fuel-air explosive if there's sufficient concentration in the air.

It's not something that instills me with confidence when they self-describe as "scrappy", I'd like to see extra vigilance into the safety concerns.

It appears that its a laser sintererererer, which makes sense. You might have noticed the explosion in adverts for laser welding systems. This means that there 200w+ lasers floating around.

I assume it still needs to be held in an inert atmosphere. Plus getting the fucking thing off the build plate isn't trivial.

I know that at the shop at my old work, they used to use a wire EDM machine to cut the thing from the build plate, then mill it flat again.

Heading says "no sintering". Text says "...lasers. Metal powder in, metal parts out"
