[flagged] macOS Tahoe 26 makes the Mac more capable, productive, and intelligent (apple.com)

I've been using the dev beta on my 16" MacBook Pro (2019) and it is so jarringly vibrant, fresh, and lively that my eyes are exhausted after just a few hours.

Tahoe is a miss. Maybe they'll be able to fix it; I'll probably not be able to use this for myself if it doesn't change significantly.

How about a computer that just gets out of my way and lets me type stuff! Seriously, I've been using computers since the DOS days and the only thing that has made my computer more intelligent was when the crashing bugs were fixed. Now get off my lawn.

The four things I want in an OS: security, stability, compatibility and performance. Everything else gets in the way of typing stuff.

It looks more or less the same besides the shinier glass effect, which was already there at some extent, very minor redesign. Does look better, though.

This seems to be an advert and unnecessary for HN.

Tangentially related: in the announcement (and in the AppStore) they promote Assassin's Creed intensively. I tried it on M1 Max with 64 GB RAM and the performance was subpar. What is the minimum config to have it run smoothly?

I like the enhancement of Spotlight. anything else?

Was shocked that someone at Apple remembered Spotlight existed.

That's the only thing I like so far, sadly.

I'm quietly amused how quickly everyone is jumping to be the first to tell the world how terrible Tahoe and the redesign is.

It's been available for less than half a day. If only you guys had been there at Apple to tell them they were wasting their time.

Any improvements in window management? Stage manager?

Flagged, advertisement posing as news item.

Blow your brains out with a new dopamine fueled MacOS interface! Now with more Ai than ever! More Internet than ever! More reminders than ever! Feel the freedom of customizing your colors! Such wow!
