Why 80% of Developers Feel Stuck–and How to Fix It

I’m Juan, a software engineer. After my mentor asked, “Why aren’t you progressing as fast as you code?”, I realized we all ship features but often lack a clear growth map.

The 2024 Stack Overflow Survey says only 20% of devs feel truly satisfied, and 48% feel complacent.

So I built HubbleQuiz: 1. 40 focused questions in <10 min 2. Instant strengths & weaknesses snapshot 3. (Optional) Step-by-step roadmap delivered by email

In private beta, 100+ engineers “debugged” their careers—70% felt clearer on their next steps within minutes.

Try it at https://hubblequiz.com Built with React & AWS Lambda.

Thanks, HN!

Many developers feel stuck and eventually just want out because software is fully unregulated. The least competent among us drive the trajectory on all things because ultimately its only about hiring unless niche market conditions drive some sort of higher competency baseline.

In my case I would rather just play video games during work hours.

"How to fix it" is already fixed by AI
