This is clearly just wishful thinking by the article author. Jeff Bezos would show himself to be a coward by... Not doing something he wasn't planning on doing in the first place?

Temu are already doing this.

It's interesting that the US are punishing their own businesses to make them less competitive.

Andy Jassy is running Amazon now, no?

That is not the argument the author is making.

Bezos recently said the WaPo opinion section would focus on "personal liberties and free markets", yet with Amazon he is not doing this. If Bezos cares about free markets so much, he would be fighting the tariffs rather than cozying up to a wanna be dictator. If Bezos actually believed in personal liberties, he would state that the White House has no business in commenting on how prices are displayed at their business.

"oligarchy" is increasing in word usage for a reason

The fact that this argument is made by the editor in chief of The Verge really shows that logic is not priority for their journal.

My take from the article isn’t that it’s really expected from Amazon. It’s calling out the hypocrisy of what Jeff has done at the Post.

>"You are of course free to make your own determination, but I challenge you to find one instance in those 11 years where I have prevailed upon anyone at The Post in favor of my own interests. It hasn’t happened.”

Mr. Bezos, you wrote this in an attempt to manage the reaction to you doing exactly that.

How about not showing the tariffs, only new and old price.

Zero chance they are going to stand up to the Trump administration. The devs/execs don't want to get disappeared.
