Cool concept, let's see if they can actually do volume production...

There's healthy scepticism, and then there's wondering whether VW can do volume production of hatchbacks.

There is zero doubt about that

.VW is already building hundreds of thousands of full BEVs every year with 383.100 sold (and delivered) in 2024 [1]

What can be reasonably questioned is the final price of the car once it enters production.

I'm curious what the final price will be stateside. Claims of a $21,000 price point bear skepticism, these days.

Even ignoring trump tarrifs.

I doubt it will be sold in the US, there is not really any appetite for small cars with limited range.

The amount of golf carts and golf-cart adjacent vehicles in my neighborhood (and others, 2022 saw $1bn in sales) seem to differ. Although they'd have to be inexpensive.

I'd get one for my teenage kid in a heartbeat.

And for around town it'd be fine. Rivian range isn't that much more, they can't even really make it from the Bay Area to Lake Tahoe (< 200 miles).

They don't even sell the id.3 in the US, so I'd be surprised if they launch this there. It'd be a very niche product.

Not coming to the US. :(

I mean, it's not a million miles away from the eUp, which they produced happily enough for years.
