I would imagine it's more unusual for someone to have exactly one interest?

Seems odd that the wikipedia page says Bachelor of Arts for Physics and Bachelor or Science for Economics... should be opposite? BSc for Physics and BA for Economics.

Economics is a fundamental force that underlies almost everything.

The field of economics provides many sensible frameworks outlining judicious decision making driven by a set of particular motivations and under certain circumstances, but to say it is a fundamental force, let alone one underlying everything (gravity, to choose an especially outrageous example of “everything”), seems fantastical at minimum

Please tell us how your theory of Musk would be different if the answer to your question were yes versus no.

On K, everything is interesting.

In seriousness, he doesn't give a flying eff about government functions. He is no different from any optimizing operator, doing only the absolute minimum to get whatever he perceives to be important done. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks is important. Like other operators he also doesn't know anything. He can identify people who do know things and then he socratic method interrogates them to get to the absolute minimum of what he considers requirements to be.

This is not the function of government- which is a platform, not a business- and his actions are net destructive, not in service of efficiency or transparency or any other bs.

Everyone who considers themselves a Republican or Libertarian is "interested in government cost cutting." It's also a trait common in SV entrepreneur culture. See Elon's behavior when he arrived at Twitter. I assume he does similar things with Tesla and SpaceX but that those companies are more able to rein him in.

But interest is not expertise. I'm interested in a lot of things I don't have deep knowledge of, nor time to gain expertise in. But I'm not a multi-billionaire capable of simply forcing myself into any arbitrary domain I want, either.
