Anything new of note here?

The more interesting and sadly often updated page is https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/Deathwatch#2024

There's not really a clear call out to what a visitor should do. It's like, if you know you know.

Ok, so did you archive the one maybe app from 10 years ago I'm interested in? What should I do?

What if I'm about to archive my service and I want you to back it up? Again, what do I do?

If you are looking for an existing archive, either visit web.archive.org, or search the wiki, or both.

If you are shutting down a website, or know of someone doing that, let AT know by adding it to the Deathwatch wiki page, or joining the IRC channel.

If you want to help out with distributed archiving projects, download the docker container or VM image and run it on your hardware.

If you have some spare money, there is an OpenCollective page.

Their download page may have more info: https://wiki.archiveteam.org/index.php/Main_Page

Seems like a appliance that can archive web page. Could be good for ppl to run and not totally rely on archive.org incase it goes down again.

The appliance is for distributed archiving projects, and it uploads data to archive.org.

Will the content of USA accounts still be accessible outside the USA? Or will it just vanish?

No apparent relation to https://archive.org?

Archive Team was started by Jason Scott, who is also software curator at Internet Archive. Unclear on timeline of his employment with IA, but he started AT in 2009. No official connection between the two orgs that I’m aware of.

Almost all ArchiveTeam downloads get uploaded to archive.org, and ArchiveTeam is trusted to upload to web.archive.org, and there are some folks active in both places, but otherwise AT and IA are separate.
