Advice Needed: interviewing.io refuses to delete recording of my interview

I received an email asking me if it was ok to include my behavioral interview in the upcoming cracking the coding interview book.

I was really shocked by the request. It's been several years since the recording, however, someone on their side must have watched it recently. The interview contains a lot of private and personally identifiable information.

I have asked interviewing.io to delete the recording of behavioral interview. (Yes, I paid for this interview.)

However, they have refused. I tried having back and forth with them, but they still refuse. They keep trying to push me to delete my account instead.

Am I screwed? Is there anything I can do to have a recording of me deleted?

On the internet nobody is a lawyer, of course, including me. But this is in their T&C:

  > Any and all content, including [...] that you submit [...] through an interview conducted using the Service [...] shall be deemed, and shall remain, your property from the moment of creation.

but also

  > you hereby grant Interviewing.io a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, paid-up, non-exclusive, license....

Basically they ask every user to accept their claim on prima nocta + first born son, without option to revoke. Have no idea if it's legally enforceable or not, however (that's a proof that I'm really not a lawyer, I guess)

Hmm should it be cautionary tale for anyone thinking of doing practice interviews to stay away from sites that record them?

If they asked for your permission to publish, then it means that they do not think that they currently legally have the right to publish.

I did some look it up, and audio recordings fall under CCPA right to be forgotten. (I'm in California.)

Might be worth asking a lawyer about it.
