Pretty interesting phenom -- do any other markets have trading hours open explicitly for a holiday? (not on a holiday, FOR one)

I believe cannabis can only be legally procured during certain holidays. I’ve had “bhang lassi” during the Holi festival (festival of colors.) That’s a cannabis infused yogurt drink. Cannabis is very strictly illegal usually, carrying a prison sentence up to ten years!

what! it is never legal. It might have been available to you during festival. And how is that relevant?

It was the times of India holi party. They even had batter deep fried cannabis leaves. The Pujari were walking down the streets with bushels of cannabis singing and everything.

My close Indian friends at the time explained that it’s the one time of year when it can be openly purchased and consumed! It was right down town New Delhi!

The OC asked if there was a time a “market” was open exclusively for a holiday. I thought this activity very relevant.
