Seems wild. Is there precedent for the costal commission using personal character and speech as a criteria for licensing?

Seems outside their preview and contrary to free speech and equal treatment.

Welcome to day to day corruption in the US. The commission is very brazen in this case. The story is that it is very powerful and not accountable to much. But here they are coming right out BOTH in giving their reasons and in masking them. Brazen - and kind of impressive.

> "Elon Musk’s tweets about the presidential election and spreading falsehoods about Hurricane Helene are endangering his ability to launch rockets off California’s central coast."

I wouldn't describe these as "political positions" as much as "conspiracy theories and insurrectionism".

Note that California works with corporations (like Oracle) controlled by conservatives all the time.

So, political positions you really really don’t like?

Hurricanes are not political. Democrats do not control them.

The cause and intent of hurricanes is not a political position unless you are an unbelievable idiot.

Election denial is also an issue of fact because people have lost hundreds of cases being unable to prove the election was stolen. That kind of pressure should turn up some hard evidence, shouldn't it?
