I permanently closed my battle.net account from the D2:LoD days following a tedious dispute with Blizzard over a Diablo IV refund. I noted in the complaint the irony that despite not getting to play the game, they'd still succeeded in showing me their new vision of hell.
WoW happened and they realized they could sell a bit flip for $20. After that nothing else would move the needle so they abandoned Diablo (until they could figure out a way to monetize it to the same level) and RTSes altogether.
