What is the difference between "Redot" and Godot?

The README for this GitHub contains the same info as the official Godot repo [1], so it's not clear what this fork does differently or changes.

[1] https://github.com/godotengine/godot

There is no difference, it's just an another chapter of the recent drama that took place on x.com. Whoever forked Godot didn't do any dev work yet, so this is effectively a copy of the original repository with a changed name and therefore it has no place here.

It is a purely ideological fork. Some people really didn't like that the Godot twitter account was posting explicitly leftist games (gamedevs with leftist politics? what a shock.) and then they started harassing the devs on github, got blocked, and then forked the engine. It's embarrassing that this is near the top of HN.

It's Godot but their twitter account is "less political"

This seems to just be some fork of Godot with no changes from the upstream. Why is this relevant?

The mass-bans on the official Godot forums. I'll just say it has something to do with the word "woke" and one particular moderator individual ... could perhaps be said to have gone somewhat overboard in his reaction to a minimal provocation.
