Very cool! I used to love Virtual Pool (original version) and this is scratching my itch. On macOS, I installed with pipx and it just worked, installing with pip failed as it usually does these days (at least for me on my setup).

It would be really interesting to see an open sourced reinforcement learning agent system build on top of this. I wonder what trickshots are possible.

I remember playing VirtuaPool on DOS a long time ago, I don't remember the command to start it on DOS, I think it was POOL.EXE

My dream program is a tool that takes a video of a game on a pool table and feeds it into an interactive playback tool like this one.

There's dozens of awesome shots I wish I could experience again on demand.

An engineer created a mixed reality pool table (YouTube channel "Stuff Made Here", all of his stuff is great).


It would also be nice to setup a shot you missed during competition to work on.


Is it standard practice to put lots of code in the `__init__.py` files?

I get the feeling you know the answer, so just come out with it :)
