ZFS Label Borked – Looking for hex help
4 points by Ja-man 17 days ago | hide | past | favorite | 2 comments
So, Attempting to expand my ZFS Z10 pool in TrueNAS (yes I know most of you do not like it) caused me to lose two of three drives. I know most say that ZFS labels cannot be fixed, but I believe that you can fix them by fixing the labels in hexadecimal. The data has not been written over I've been digging around trying to find some help. Thoughts - Find the UberBlocks and replicate them (even thought zpool import says it's a no-go), duplicate some label information from the one drive in my pool that mounts as online. I have attempted raid recovery tools and data recovery but even those do not identify how the disks fit into the pool. I'm ready to accept all kinds of flaming comments and maybe a couple of helpful suggestions. JA-M

Did you ask in a github discussion in the openzfs project?

That would be my first place to get expert knowlegde.

Maybe you can try some of the following: https://www.tritondatacenter.com/blog/zfs-forensics-recoveri...

I'm pretty sure you lost your data.

My data is still physically there but on three disks that are no longer "connected". Thanks for the suggestions
