Are there any good resources for creating a B2B or B2C product launch marketing plan? I am building a platform for business professionals and want to develop a marketing strategy.
Amy Hoy has a few products that cover launches. Launches are part of a holistic business strategy based on direct marketing concepts. So marketing starts even before product development. You collect marketing materials at the same time you research/build your product (ensures you don't build something no one wants to buy.)
This is a very opinionated way to do marketing that is different from "traditional marketing." I feel it is the most effective, but it also requires more work (mainly research to truly understand the customer).
I would describe the strategy as "precision-marketing." When most people think of "marketing," they think of the more common "brute-force nuclear marketing." (Brute force marketing is fine for products like Coca-Cola: people already know what Coke is, so they just need to be reminded it tastes good.)
Here’s how I (almost) always launch:
1. 2-3 blog posts 2-4 weeks before, to build up my list
2. and 3-5 emails starting 2 weeks or so before, to build
anticipation, each one leading to the other
3. announcing the launch date & time 2-3 days ahead
4. reminding the list about the launch a few hours ahead…
5. emailing once more when the lanuch begins

- https://30x500.com (They "launch" a new class every few months, but if you email them they let you sign up.)
There are many other good sources on "precision-marketing," but I think Amy Hoy is the most tech-adjacent.
