If you’re a USA HN user who decries EU policy as draconian, I’m particularly interested in your thoughts on this law.


This is draconian.

Parenting should be left to the parents.


biggest thing is age verification and how it gets done. If online services require e.g. a driver's license for registration, then that's too much to ask


> (c) Protections for Privacy.--Nothing in this subtitle, including a determination described in subsection (b), shall be construed to require--

> (1) the affirmative collection of any personal data with respect to the age of users that a covered platform is not already collecting in the normal course of business; or

> (2) a covered platform to implement an age gating or age verification functionality.


If it passes it will be challenged in the courts as major parts of it run afoul of the first amendment.


As european I think it's great, I trust bureaucrats much more than corporate execs with no ethics
