Why Canonical keeps asking for high school grades in their job applications?

I find it very silly to ask me about my grades 20 years ago? and marking that as required? While I already have Bachelor of Engineering?

A FOSS company that is supposed to be created with the spirit of "ubuntu" (the notion) in mind, should lead the community in humane practices in those areas.

Not be corporate creeps like that.

I noticed that when I applied there during my last job hunt. I took it as a hint that "We're not interested in hiring older workers."

"Hey canonical, hire me! I failed every single class in high school including gym. You want me to explain why or not? It's incredibly relevant to how I operate as a 36-year-old today." I said in a monotone voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Yes actually could you explain why your grades were so bad?"

"Well my mother was going through a mental health crisis for most of my teenage years and was abusing my father mentally and essentially driving him to attempt suicide multiple times unsuccessfully. I was going to a special school at the time, actually I was being shuttled through multiple special schools. I didn't feel like doing homework. I didn't feel like participating in gym. I had a lot of other shit going on. So, are you going to remove these silly silly questions from your job applications? Because now you've made me extremely sad and unmotivated and uncomfortable and honestly Linux sucks so I'm going to go apply at Microsoft now bye!"

"Hmm, seems like you had a lot of bad luck happen to you at the time. We can't risk having your bad luck come again while you work for us. What if you 'don't feel like' doing the stuff we give you then? We prefer employees with a perfect luck/no past issues record. Thank you - next!"

They wont say it. But they will think it and probably use it in their decision.

Nah, those questions wouldn't trigger me as hard as using Windows does.
