Glad to see this! The lack of documentation for the Nix language was one of the big reasons I ended up switching away from Nix, and later prefering GNU Guix. After checking the Wayback Machine, it seems like this page was published after I stopped using Nix, so that checks out :D
Glad to hear about your experience with Guix! Have you found the lack of non-GNU applications limiting? I know there are workarounds for that, but I don't want to rely on third-party repos for such a critical feature.
The nonguix channel is very popular among people who use Guix, despite people being unable to discuss it on official Guix forums and chats. I haven't had to rely on it for things like Nvidia drivers, but I use it for Steam and the mainline Linux kernel. It has worked well for me for about 2 years now.
