I'm a senior full-stack developer with an aspiration for team/product lead or CTO-like position. For ~7 years I was co-founder and CTO of an ed-tech company called: amy.app . My co-founder and I scaled the company to about 25 employees. Before that I gained a PhD in Human Robot Interaction in NZ. Currently I'm exploring how LLMs, in particular vision, can be used to automate back office jobs. I'm very product/customer focused and pragmatic. I like to move super fast. My dream environment is an early-stage/full-remote startup.

PS: I have a family, that means the main compensation via shares isn't an option for me. PPS: to demonstrate my speed: Here is an LLM project I fully(!) developed within 48h. It even got some traction on HN: https://www.line-items.com/

Might have access to some interesting roles, have sent a connection request on LinkedIn :)

Hi HN! I'm a Linux security engineer looking for work on Open Source software. I've done some security work in the Linux Kernel (containerization primitives), in systemd as well as some work on Secure Boot.

Notably I've implemented auto-enrollment of secure boot keys in systemd. See (https://github.com/systemd/systemd/pull/20255 & https://lpc.events/event/16/contributions/1259/).

Lately, I've been very interested in MicroVMs and minimizing the Linux Kernel attack surface.

Message me if any of that sounds interesting!

I'm a fourth-year Data Science student at the University of São Paulo seeking an Internship role (August - December). My course has provided me with a good background on Statistics and CS, with classes such as Deep Learning, Non-Structured Data Mining and Bayesian Statitics. I have had the oppotunity to do a Research Internship in France earilier this year, receiving one of the most prestigious scholarships available in my country, it was about Time Series extrinsic regression for Mobile Health.

My current experience has been as a Machine Learning Intern, creating a MLP, FCN, ResNet and InceptionTime in PyTorch comparing it to a new implementation for a paper yet to be published. Not to mention a few kaggle competitions and a bunch of projects, I have also had some data engineering experience working with ECG data.

I'm wanting to transition to an engineering role, but I believe I am missing some of the skills needed for it. I am currently a Senior Windows Systems Administrator. My interests with work are currently around device management and automation, but would love to work in just about any field. I love to learn and am quick to pick up new skills.

Hi, I'm Daniel. I'm looking for a position utilizing Edge AI to enable a sensor-side solution not otherwise possible with the delay of server-side AI inference. I have experience working on next-gen server and mainframe firmware/hardware development at IBM (as part of Design for Test and Memory teams), where I was involved in improving system start stability for the processor and menory controller. I also wrote hardware APIs and testing tools for hardware bringup, both for functional (Python instrumentation suite) and structural (VHDL RRFI tests).

I am currently consulting to design and lead the implementation of an IoT architecture that employs machine learning on embedded systems to surpass key benchmarks (company is in stealth, can't say more).

As both career and hobby I like to play in resource constrained environments to develop efficient and elegant solutions that surpass what equivalent hardware would have been capable of in the past. I'm a continuous learner currently taking hands-on coursera courses on FPGA design, real-time systems, and 3D printing CAD.

Feel free to reach out, maybe we can build something great together.

Hello, I'm Oleh. I'm a product-oriented frontend developer with 6 years of commercial experience focused on browser extensions. I enjoy turning ideas into working products without compromising the user experience or performance.

In my career, I worked a lot on browser extensions, so I have quite a good understanding of browser internals and how JS works. I'm perfectly comfortable coding in vanilla JS (and can reverse engineer JS scripts, lol). Besides frontend, I can work on backend too (using either TS or Python) and do basic DevOps. Beyond day work, I contribute to open source, work on my apps, and write articles for my blog (https://sinja.io).

I'm looking for a remote position in a product company without a lot of bureaucracy. I'm comfortable both working in team and being single developer. Extra points for you if the position allows part-time employment.

Looking for: Full-time Software Engineer roles.

I am a full stack engineer with experience in a range of technologies, including JavaScript/TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and React. Before software development, I worked within academia as a research analyst, examining interesting questions in the public health/healthcare spectrum - I primarily analyzed healthcare data and did a lot of data analysis.

I recently built Willow with a team of four engineers. It is an open-source, self-hosted framework for building Change Data Capture data pipelines, which updates Redis caches in near real-time based on changes in a PostgreSQL database. You can read more about Willow here: https://willow-cdc.github.io/

I am a seasoned (15 years experience) full-stack principal software engineer specializing in the backend. In the past, I've led teams of up to 12, managed interview pipelines, pioneered a number of no- and low-code solutions for stream processing, data model and query generation, form building, workflow systems, and front-end construction for a variety of industries, including those with strong regulatory requirements and complex business rules such as healthcare and fintech.

More recently, I've built a workflow engine for coordinating LLMs and other generative AI processes, and on top of this a platform for minimizing hallucinations and working with documents that are too large for existing context windows.

I'll teach your leadership, product or dev teams to build using AI/LLMs. I do blogs, talks, demos and flexible workshops focused on building AI-powered features and workflows - using no/low-code tools (no IDE required!) and the latest AI services, tools and techniques relevant to your work. Perfect for teams who are early in their journey but don't want to get bogged down by theory or code.

Need to be on top of AI by end of Q2/Q3? Here's the shortcut: https://cal.com/jimleuk/30min

Hi, I'm Jim! I've been building with AI/LLMs since summer of 2023 when I was a head of dev at a top London digital product agency. I left at the start of this year to focus on AI/LLMs in digital products and currently freelance/consult for startups and professionals internationally. Hey there! o/ I'm Bong, a generalist software engineer from Malaysia with a passion for making good software products, I like to focus on the big picture of the project while paying attention to small details such as optimizations. I apply good coding practices and software engineering principles to any technology I learn. I have experience working in startup environment and love the fast paced, high impact work I'm doing.

What you can expect from me:

- A quick learner who can efficiently pick up new technologies and tools

- A problem-solver who leverages good coding practices to deliver high-quality solutions

- A geeky guy who pretty much will research every little single thing that piques my interests or that is required for work.

- For only USD 24K per year

Now, I know what you might be thinking "But Bong, you're in Malaysia! How can we afford to hire someone so far away?" Well, given the lower cost of living in Malaysia, my salary expectation is only $24,000 USD per year, I believe this is a fantastic bargain for the value I can provide. Also for me, Work Environment > Salary as I truly love my work and I want to make sure it's as enjoyable as possible with challenging problems to tackle and great co-workers to work with.

Feel free to drop me an email or connect with me on LinkedIn, thanks ;)

Previously: Worked on the frontend team at JLL Technologies inc, formerly Envio Systems, on feature improvement and on a big refactoring push from Angular 1.x to React/Typescript/Redux/Jest. We were responsible for a commercial building management product, and the team was distributed across the EU, NA, and Asia, while I worked remotely from Vancouver before getting laid off in early 2023.

Currently: Have spent my time learning Swift, SwiftUI while building out a native macOS app, building up my low-level knowledge through the Nand2Tetris course, and learning Nuxt + Django + Tailwind to strengthen my full-stack skills. I have about 8-10 years of experience depending how you count it, but it's fragmented and I'm just looking to do some decent work over the short or long term, FTE or contract, happy to discuss options. I'd be open to both intermediate and senior roles, and am very adaptable.

Goal: I'm based out of Vancouver, but happy to discuss different remote arrangements globally or hybrid in Canada. I enjoy working on sticky legacy problems, improving UX and DX, and making useful products with a good team.

After surviving multiple rounds of layoffs, I decided to quit and not wait for the final big one. (happened months later)

That was ~8 months ago. I’ve done ZERO leetcode practice as I’ve been too busy shipping for my users and customers.

Here is what has been keeping me busy.

Shipped a Next.js/React app for artists to maintain artist profiles and submit art to the newsletter. Using MySQL, Prima, TypeScript, Tailwind, and React. Sent my 2,500,000th email/piece of art.

Onboarded 100+ artists.

Launched an AI version: https://randomdailyart.ai

Using Go Hugo, tailwind, lots of cool vanilla JavaScript animations, tailwind.css.

My most ambitious project yet. Fix email with a browser extension. I ship daily. Using vanilla class-based TypeScript, some React, tailwind.css. Coming very soon.

Background: Masters in control theory and signal processing, working in the auto industry for the last 7 years, first on low level powertrain software then the last year or so on LIDAR/computer vision for autonomous vehicles. I've done the most work in C, but I'm now getting up to speed on python and the computer vision/numpy/data processing pipeline stack there for data quality/perception work, along with Linux desktop application architecting and development for AV utilities. Hello! I'm Tess. I'm a design-informed fullstack software engineer with three years of coding experience.

I most recently created Campfire, an open-source, self-hosted CI/CD tool that lets developers automatically provision deploy previews with built-in commenting and recording features, so teams can get and share feedback faster and with less context-switching. You can check it out here: https://campfire-previews.github.io/

I am most excited by projects that help empower the makers, thinkers and doers of the world. As someone who previously worked as a freelance designer, I'd love to contribute to the tools that enable people to work more efficiently, expansively, or collaboratively.

I'm always open to learning something new and I'd love to work with a team that inspires each other to do their best work.

If you're looking for someone like me, I'm looking forward to speaking with you! :-)

Website : https://burhanrashid52.com

My name is Burhanuddin Rashid, and I am a software engineer with 8+ years of experience in developing mobile applications. I am an open-source enthusiast and a Google Developer Expert in Dart and Flutter.

I owe most of my career to the open-source community. I got exposed to this when I open-sourced my first Android PhotoEditor library, which reached around 3.8K stars and is still active. This led me to an opportunity to speak at Droidcon Berlin 2021, sharing my open-source learnings.

Work-wise, currently, I am working remotely from SFO for a startup called Rock, which is a chat plus task management app. We are a remote-first company and building a product that allows users to work remotely in an asynchronous manner with fewer meetings.

My biggest contribution so far in the product was to improve code and app quality by introducing testing to the team.

Before that, I was the Android tech lead to build an offline-first app to manage package delivery with real-time location tracking, collaborating with a remote team. Apart from this, I've also worked on web and backend technologies like React and Spring Boot, which gives me additional knowledge of how the system works end-to-end.

Also, in my free time, I learn and share my knowledge by writing blogs, newsletters, Youtube videos, or speaking at conferences.

I've been designing and building enterprise platforms for device management, kubernetes management, and for IaC atop of Gitlab for the last 3 years with a focus on providing painkillers for all of our customers. This has grown into hundreds of sites, thousands of applications, and thousands of IoT devices (RPi, Jetsen, etc.) and thousands of servers.

Along with this, we've been baking in tooling into these platforms, giving application developers easier access to cloud resources both in AWS and on-prem, removing effort for logging/observability/alerting, and more.

I'm not a Leetcode expert or "algorithms guy" and I don't have experience in a hundred different languages.

What I do have is experience in following the whole process (At least on the technical side, I don't know much about business), from concept to launch to onboarding new hires.

I have mostly worked in entertainment, but I've also done some industrial and building controls work.

I have a bit lower risk tolerance than most, and I don't buy the whole WorseIsBetter movement, so I'm always looking for new ways to catch and stop that last 0.1% of bugs before they happen.

I'm Gabriel, a mid-level full-stack software engineer with experience in engineering management but have pivoted my career back into IC track, which I discovered to be more enjoyable to me than managing teams.

Prior to doing engineering management, I was a Ruby on Rails and React full-stack software engineer. I helped build telephony (auto dials phone numbers in the browser) and chat based rails + react apps.

My passion lies mostly in scraping and crawling tech and working with data at scale. I was laid off 3 months ago and have been working on my side projects (a database of AI products which I'm trying to sell to VC firms/anyone who would need data to track where AI is headed towards)

I'm looking for a product-driven company that's focused on solving hard problems with a culture that encourages that.

I am a full stack developer with a Master's degree in Computer Science and 4 years of professional experience with JavaScript and C#/.NET. In the last few years my main focus has been the React/Next.js ecosystem, followed by Node.js. I am a JavaScript professional and a Python beginner interested to get more exposure to it. I have also worked with ASP.NET in the past which is not my primary focus at the moment. I have a basic understanding of DevOps tools.

A quick and easy way to assess my current skill level, the quality of my code and documentation, and my preferred tech stack (Next.js, TypeScript, React Query, Prisma, Postgres, TailwindCSS, Docker, Github Actions) is to check out one of my latest projects: https://github.com/nemanjam/nextjs-prisma-boilerplate

I have experience working remotely for startups within globally distributed multicultural teams.

I am looking for a full-time remote position. We can discuss relocation after some time spent in the company. You can check out my other projects at https://github.com/nemanjam . I have detailed resume available, you can tell me about your company and project by email: nemanja.mitic.elfak [at] hotmail.com or by LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/nemanja-mitic .

I have 14 years of experience in developing and optimizing web apps in small teams. I have a passion for making things scalable. I like Rails and I've been focusing on it for the past 12 years but I'm exploring the idea of moving to something else.

The startup I worked for ran out of cash a few months ago and since then I've been playing with my open source hobby operating system written in Rust (http://moros.cc). It's a nice break after years of hard work and I'll probably spend the summer doing that but I'm also preparing for my next job.

I have been a professional data engineer/person for ten years. I have seen some stuff in both small and large companies. I try to do things well.

The startup I was with for over a year sadly had to let a bunch of core staff go about one month ago. So, I am currently available full time. Do you need a solid person to help with your data or related activities?

(As an aside, I also have a serious appreciation for "real hypertext" in the sense of Paul Otlet, Ted Nelson, and Doug Engelbart, in case that happens to resonate with your organization's ethos.)

This would be a side thing unless it’s a super "once in a lifetime" opportunity. I am looking for part hours, or retainers, or work toward fully moving into a consulting / advisory capacity.

I have 20+ years solving business problems and maximising opportunities through technology in a variety of industries internationally. My core skills are in strategy, enterprise architecture, technology architecture, consulting and advice, agile, team leadership, coaching and mentoring.

I am currently a Principal Architect. I operate at both the enterprise strategy and solutions level with many years in architecture and technology in the private and public sector. I know how to use enterprise architecture frameworks, practices and principles from concept stage to delivery in order to execute on strategy and how to work with product and development teams to set direction and manage product evolution.

TOGAF 9 Certified Enterprise Architect, certified AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate, Scaled Agile SAFe certified architect, and Scrum Master (PSM1) certified.

I am ex-dev. Long list of tech. I don’t write code much anymore. I have honed my architecture skills from designing and building scalable resilient solutions across private sector (process and plant automation, presell, corporate and companies law related, limited banking) and loads in public sector (government, large and complex).

Lately I've been active in the AI space (langchain/llama index, LLM powered apps, agent orchestration, decentralized identity, on-device inference, multi-platform apps, local-first apps).

I can build any kind of app/system/architecture, using any kind of tech. I can build your MVP, do R&D, lead your team, or just be a regular team member.

I'm 10+ YoE SWE, who built high-scale performant microservices, core libraries, and developer tools at Shopee (the E-commerce leader in Southeast Asia). Able to learn and be productive quickly with whatever stack you use. My last project at Shopee was a framework that abstracts infrastructure components (DB, cache, mq, ...), enabling developers to build new services quickly focusing on only the business logic. It's similar to Spring Boot but for Golang. It's not OSS, unfortunately.

I'm looking for either a full-time or contract remote position.

Hi, I'm Jonathan, currently a computational scientist in a postdoctoral fellowship role looking to transition out of academia. My postdoc is unique as I operate like a contractor. I work with faculty from various disciplines across campus, applying my skill set to diverse and varied problems. My current work involves more machine learning and applied LLMs with my prior work being molecular modeling focused. I'm adept with Python and Bash, working with both sparse and large datasets, as well as working with an HPC environment. On the side I've hosted server infrastructure for open source projects utilizing bare-metal servers, VPS, and AWS. I also host my own infrastructure as a hobby, from the hardware to the nameservers.

I'm a strong communicator, having collaborated across disciplines and presented work for both technical and non-technical audiences. Having worked at a startup before I’m comfortable wearing many hats (and enjoy the variety). I'm self-motivated and love to dig into new complex problems and learn new tools.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so I am in the process to relocate to Africa.

While I could find a job elsewhere I believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location I am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.

I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and I am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.

I am also open to work for a company anywhere as long as the work can be done fully remote from Africa.

In addition, I want to use part of my income to hire local interns and junior developers and train them in order to pass on my experience. If you want to support this, I would love to work with you. Also if you are interested in hiring African developers yourself. I can help you build up a team for you.

I've worked in both large, well established and early stage companies so am comfortable in either environment. I'm sociable, friendly guy who enjoys anything involving exercise and the outdoors in my spare time.

After helping our last venture exit, I'm currently on a contract running strategy for an onchain venture, but looking to transition to a full time role before fall. Open to long term contracts or fractional work for the right projects.

The key areas where I bring a unique advantage and think are most relevant are:

Trusted voice: extremely comfortable being an outward-facing, persuasive ambassador in nearly every necessary capacity on behalf of the company - investor relations, partnerships, corporate/business development, media/press, trade, etc.

Strategic muscle: a voice confident in driving the direction and priorities of the company. Evaluating alternatives, prioritizing and knowing when to say no. A right hand to a CEO, partner to other executives.

Builder mindset: not in an engineering capacity, but in emerging and new markets, figuring out what it takes to win and deploying those strategies.

Operations: I how organizations operate and scale, how business development, sales, product and engineering work together to drive towards product market fit and sustainability.

Thanks for reading.

Hey there! I'm Joe, a Senior Frontend Engineer looking for remote work. Although I have worked full stack and DevOps roles in my 14 year career career, the UI is my true love and React has been a joy to work with over the past 5 years.

I enjoy friendly and collaborative workplaces. I hope to find a place where I can mentor junior/mid level engineers (I love teaching!). I bring with me both my technical expertise and my humanity.

Hope to hear from you!

Technologies: Java, Python (and variants thereof like Groovy, Clojure, Pypy), Node/TS | AWS/Lambda Serverless, GCE/Kubernetes | Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB

Resume: https://bit.ly/3B3o65M (It links to my CV repo at Github, pinky promise. You can also visit github.com/<hnusername>.)

I'm not actively looking (hence why my resume link is obfuscated like that) but I'm at least interested in getting a feel for the market right now. That said, I'm willing to consider a position with a great fit for my skill set and career goals.

Here's my pitch: I have experience in a multitude of industries and positions. From improving legacy infra and processes in an established telco company to scaling a fast-moving startup from 200K to 2M users. In my free time, I love writing Code That Is Poetry but day-to-day I am not an idealist engineer who doesn't compromise. Well-engineered code is clean and correct but correct above all else.

Oh, also, I'm great at writing documentation. I consider myself introverted but apparently my communication skills are above average for Software Engineers. I also pride myself on my humility and modesty.

I'm currently a backend engineer developing features and improving infra for an online game with millions of daily active users. I'd love to explore other technical positions in the games industry short of joining a AAA studio because (a) I don't want to crunch and (b) my skill set does not lay that way; other tech-creative industries would also appeal to me! Another particular interest is in B2C businesses where the 'C' is software developers. I'd love to chat and network about opportunities; if you think you have a product that could benefit from my skill set, drop me a line!

Hey! I'm a life-long self-taught programmer and I'm looking for a first job.

I had started a mathematics bachelor's degree a few years ago but I decided to not go down the academic path in face of AGI; I'd rather help an AGI that is safer and a safer transition into AGI.

So now my plan is to get a full time job to pay the bills and, in the free time, get up to date with the recent literature and in a few years be able to join an AI research team.

CV link gives me 404. Perhaps a typo in the link.

Good luck friend!

I'm a final year PhD student that is practically finished but will still need 1 day per week to write/finish my thesis. I'm looking for opportunities as a research/ML engineer. I did 3 years of data science before my PhD + app development before that during my studies so I have a good amount of production/professional experience as well. Thesis is focused on document processing so if you need that I'm definitely your guy!
