Show HN: Sustainable climate compensation plans for individuals and companies (greenwedge.eco)

Hello everyone!

I would like to share an environmental project I am working on.

It’s a web application for sustainable climate compensation plans, which are based on ecosystem restoration projects, and also includes impact tracking and anti-greenwashing measures.

The idea came up while browsing reddit, where one redditor shared their environmental impact tracking spreadsheet, but wasn’t sure how to properly include the compensation from recently bought trees. The organization from which they bought those trees didn’t provide reliable information on their impact and how it is spread in time, so I started researching this topic more and found out, that there are many services which either overestimate their impact or even use creative carbon accounting.

I know that everything now is a subscription, and in most cases it isn’t good for customers, but it is easier to stick with a subscription to gradually build towards tangible environmental impact, as it requires proper scale, therefore time and/or resources. The upside of planting trees is, that their impact doesn’t disappear after canceling a subscription, so you don’t lose it.

We plan to restore temperate broadleaf woodland and forest ecosystems, mainly on agriculturally degraded and unproductive land. As soon as we confirm the details with our potential regional partners, we will add more information how it works to our website, including where, how, and with whom we’ll do the fieldworks.

The app wouldn’t be possible without immense help from a programmer and support from an incubation program. We have many ideas how we can improve it, but will appreciate your feedback!
