All three volumes of Burnham's Celestial Handbook occupy pride of place in my bookshelf. It is a bit of a tragedy that dark skies are fast vanishing where I live. That said, much of Burnham's descriptions, especially of Deep-Sky objects, are nothing if not poetic. Reading these descriptions, and looking up my past observation logs does bring back memories of hunting down faint fuzzies in binoculars and telescope.
