Ask HN: When did 302 redirects start corrupting Wayback Machine archives?
5 points by smeej on Feb 13, 2024 | hide | past | favorite | 1 comment
I owned a domain from 2017-2021. After I decided not to move forward with the project, I made sure to make an archive through the Wayback Machine for posterity, then let the domain expire.

Now, when I go try to look at any of the archives, either that I made or that had happened previously, all I get is a 302 redirect to Huge Domains, which offers to sell it back to me.

What use is an archive if it can be changed later? And when did this start happening?

AFAIK the Wayback Machine respects redirects and similar in the live site/domain, for reasons. I doubt that your original pages are lost, but getting to them may be hard.
