Boeing forgot to install retaining bolts, this is not the same as some nebulous risk factor associated with an activity, this is negligence. Air travel is also highly subject to consumer confidence, and like it or not, the appearance of incompetence or impropriety has an impact.

That's why I believe that the future is light aviation (helicopters, VTOL, eVTOL, Light aircrafts, ultralight aircrafts etc)
The rare accidents (aviation is the safest form of transportation) becomes so spread out (like car crashes) that it becomes impossible for media to converge on one place and make everybody panic and extrapolate global doom like it happened on 911 and in these days with Boeing.
Same thing with COVID , had it emerged organically in each and every town with a population higher than 5000 (like the flu) instead of Wuhan the media wouldn't had the chance to extrapolate a fatality rates of 30% and we'd have not locked ourselves for 2 years.
Similarly if one of them were to suffer a fatal brain aneurysm, you'd never hear about it.
Both events are many orders of magnitude more probable than the supposed issue they are sent there to investigate.
If they are smart they are calling their boss names right now for exposing them to useless driving risk
