Ask HN: Meeting remote team in person, what are good things to ask?

My remote team is meeting in person, all functions from leads to QA to devs etc. Most of the day is structured, but there is "hang out" time interspersed. What are some good things to ask/talk about that I would not be able to do as well via videoconference?

I'd talk about what you can see behind them. In the virtual world many are curating the wall behind them like they used to curate the knick-knacks on their desk. What they show is the things that are what they identify as a core part of themselves. Now, this won't work if the backdrop is kitchen cabinets, because that means they don't have a dedicated space in their home for their desk. But if there is a few funkos, a model car, a LEGO set, etc. might as well use that as a jumping off point.

All of my knick-knacks and collectibles are off camera. You're making me rethink my office layout.

What is an example of something you cannot talk or ask about of someone who is on the other end of a video call?

Do you like my smell?

Do you all want to go out to dinner somewhere and talk some more?

Just chill ask about their hobbies etc.
