My favourite example of this is comparing women's suffrage in the US and Switzerland. The latter famously had bitter holdouts at the federal level until 50 years after the former had given women the vote, yet curiously the former has yet to have a female president (or even pass a no-brainer like the ERA!) and the latter has had 6 (some with multiple terms).
