Ask HN: Do people get hired from 'Who wants to be hired' thread?

I landed my first role out of college from the hiring threads and still happily employed at the company.

I suspect some selection bias here, so my datapoint is "tried multiple times, didn't get anything useful out of this".

Once contacted company which happened to be geographically close to where I live. Eventually they said they had a "tremendous influx of candidates for that position", so for me it didn't work out.

It's easier to get to talks in "work for a startup" program - I think that's because that program is more structured, not just "looking for work/looking for workers" generic board.

I can confirm I got my last job via the CTO reaching out to me on work at a startup.

Definitely. I've got interviews (and an offer) in the past. I got hired by my current employer from a "Who's hiring?" thread.

Related: I got "hired" from the who's hiring thread for a B2B contract. It's worth looking and applying, there's good stuff there.

I did. Ended up working at a startup that got bought out by big tech.

We need a “Poll HN:” feature

There is one.

There used to be. I think they removed it?

Yes.
