A sad day for Matrix. The real news here is that the reference Matrix home server implementation, the only production-grade Matrix home server that exists and the one thing that really should be owned by the foundation in a healthy ecosystem changed ownership into a for-profit organization. Not only that, it isn't even true AGPL because Element reserves the explicit right to relicence the code to ANYTHING based on who pays most.
