Good points. Instead of listing specific technologies as requirements for candidate one could include a paragraph about the actual technology stack and tools being used in company.
I agree, usually theres also a ridiculous list of technologies a candidate is expected to be familiar with, most of which can be picked up by a competent developer/designer in a matter of days.
Agreed. In Sydney there's one company that's been trying to hire for a long time; they advertise looking for PHP or Ruby devs, but they're actually a ColdFusion/Classic-ASP shop. It's incredibly frustrating running into these sorts of places that don't tell you up-front what you'll be working with day-to-day.
(In the case of this particular shop, I'm guessing they're trying to get developers in so they can try to win them over at the interview, rather than have potential candidates dismiss the company out of hand.)
