As Meta news block takes its toll, local media not unified on a path forward (cbc.ca)

Article was a good, quick read with opinions from two viewpoints in the media industry. One saying that the media companies benefit from the reach and exposure and the other speaking about how media companies should be fairly compensated. It may be that I read too quickly, but they weren't quite opposing viewpoints (in terms of arguments, not view towards the law), with the pro-law viewpoint seeming more like an attempt to get some cash.

Regardless, I expect the situation to remain the same until the media companies relent or (more likely IMHO) the law or enforcement are amended to create blanket coverage for all media entities with fees collected and distributed by some central authority, if not happening already.
