Hi! Bit of a non-standard career path here, but maybe someone out there is looking for that.
I'm a JS dev / technical evangelist in Tokyo who decided to float off into orbit for several years and build open-source passion projects. Mainly I made a JS voxel game engine (most notably used by some company called Mojang), and my own game is nearly ready for Show-HN. But while solo OSS dev has been hugely fun and rewarding, I'm now itching to find a great team to join, and build... most anything creative and awesome.

Willing to relocate: No
Technologies: JS, Node, Svelte, Vite, WebGL, WebAudio, TS, Vue, Angular..
Résumé/CV: https://fenomas.com/about/cv
Email: andy at the domain called fenomas.com
Feel free to reach out, about suitable positions or just generally. As thanks for reading, here's a random shiny object: https://fenomas.com/demo/vermeer/
I've been using Go as my primary language for the last seven years, although I don't overly care about the specific language and have experience with a wide variety of tools and languages such as Python, Ruby, PHP, C, JavaScript, Lua, and probably some more. While I've mainly focused on backend in the last few years, I also have written plenty of frontend code over the years, from the "pre-jQuery" days to VueJS.
In the last few years I mainly focused on GoatCounter (https://www.goatcounter.com) with the occasional contract job, but I'm keen to start working on something new for the longer term.
I've got quite a bit of code on my GitHub, so you can take a look at that if you want: https://github.com/arp242/
I'm a friend of this this guy, but he is to shy to write about what he does.
Latest jobs:
1. Development of low-latency platform for trading. Implementation of kernel bypass TCP/IP stack on top of DPDK + F-Stack + Rust.
2. Implementation of low-latency algorithms for HFT. Rust, WebSockets, gRPC.
Personal projects (you can see links in his resume):
RSGC
Concurrent garbage collection library for Rust
(November 01, 2022 - March 03, 2023)
Concurrent GC library written in Rust for Rust. Throughput and latency are comparable to that of HotSpot GCs like G1 or Shenandoah, outperforms .NET and Go garbage collectors.
b3-rs
LLVM-like library for code generation
A library for code generation based on B3 from WebKit. Supports generating x86_64 and RISC-V machine code out of the box.
I'm a generalist with 20 years of professional experience covering more technologies than would make sense to list above, working most recently in a solution architect role. I'm actively seeking full-time employment in the NYC area, though I'm open to fully remote opportunities as well.
I work well with product and business stakeholders as a Solution Architect to define their problem with enough requirements and constraints to narrow the possible solution space to a set of best viable options. I also work well with implementation teams as a Senior Engineer to help properly implement a chosen solution, while still doing a fair bit of implementation myself.
I have many personal/academic interests that augment my professional experience pretty well, such as studying AI/ML in a Systems Science graduate program working on an explainable ML approach similar to log-linear models called "reconstructability analysis". I'd love to hear from any AI/ML companies that are looking to tackle the problem of AI explainability.
Anyone interested in speaking can reach me over LinkedIn or schedule a meeting via the Calendly link on my Resume page. Email and phone can be provided on request.
Freshly minted PhD (electrical engineering), with research on adaptive fault-tolerant control using reinforcement learning. Basically, making machine learning data-efficient so it can adapt faster. Technologies: PhD in Social AI (Embodied AI on robots and virtual agents), AI/ML systems, Python, scikitlearn, pandas, pytorch, AWS and GCP, NLU tooling (NLTK and BERT)
Roles: Full-time ML/AI Engineer, Data Scientist, or Technical PM
Hello! I am looking for data or ML engineering roles or Technical PM roles. I recently finished my PhD in computer science which focused on Social AI (motion generation and dialog systems/NLU). This gave me hands-on experience and loads of exposure to a ton of ML frameworks. I thrive off the whirlwind of activity in the bay and am having a great time learning new technologies whilst starting my search to re-enter industry.
I have experience in team management and as a full stack engineer, but would prefer focusing on either growing my team lead skills as a PM or my technical skills as an AI researcher or engineer.
I find myself strongly motivated by being a part of a solid team, so I'd love to hear from you and see how my skills might be a fit!
Remote: Full-remote but more than happy to travel occasionally. My location is very flexible.
Portfolio: Most recently I built https://flat.social from scratch. It's a video conferencing app where everyone can fly around and talk with others in proximity - feel free to check out the demo!
Technologies: Full-stack (Next.js, React, Node, WebGL, Typescript (+ npm friends), Redux, Jest, Socket.io), CosmosDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Firebase, Docker, Azure, Digital Ocean, Mediasoup / Webrtc, PIXI.js. In the past I have also worked with Python and done fair share of iOS work with Swift (<3) and Objective-C both (both as a dev and tech lead).
Hi, I'm Paweł, a Software Engineer with 11 years professional experience building products and leading tech teams in environments ranging from large corporations to startups.
I'm currently available for contract work - outside IR35 for UK but open to work with worldwide clients (smiling to US and LATAM timezones here).
I worked with Tom for almost 2 years. During that time and prior to me joining, he played an integral role on numerous projects at the startup we both worked at, including building out the initial prototypes and first versions, as well as leading them to production to the delight of hundreds of highly satisfied users.
Tom is a terrific coworker and person, and would be a great addition to any team looking for a senior/staff level engineer who can deliver results and lead projects, or complement an existing team of senior engineers.
My name is Damian and I'm junior web developer with no prior commercial experience. I've been learning programming for almost half year now, after transitioning form architectural industry. My preference is full-stack job but I'm happy with doing back-end only too. You can check out my portfolio projects either on GitHub, LinkedIn or my portfolio page.

I'm looking for a position that will allow me to use more of my technical knowledge and grow beyond personal projects and FOSS contributing. I'm fast-learning, thorough and have solid soft-skills. In code I value simplicity, efficiency and documentation. Besides being into programming since I first laid my hands on a PC, I have years of professional experience as sound engineer and graphic designer under my belt. Standing between the worlds of technology and humanities, I'm perfect to bridge the gap.
As my latest occupations aren't formally technical, I have realistic expectations regarding my potential role.
I provide consulting services for everything in the OpenAI / LLM / ChatGPT realm. I'm an ex-Google consultant who now enjoys working with LLMs. After extensive work on projects for the likes of Village Global, I've developed advanced techniques for solving traditional problems in the space.
I mainly provide Chat Bot / Assistant / Co-Pilot / Question Answering systems over your custom / private dataset. Everything from basic (vector similarity retrieval + chat functionality) to advanced (massive accuracy improvement over vector similarity) systems.
I also have extensive ETL / data experience, so if your dataset is large, and/or is not already cleaned / prepared / queryable, that won't be an issue.
All projects are fixed-price (no hourly billing). A typical basic chat bot / question answering system is $15,000 flat fee (excluding cloud hosting and OpenAI API costs) with a 2-week turnaround.

Summary: I've worked with the Julia community for 9 years as a professional and a student. Just finishing up my PhD at MIT now. Have been on a lot of varied projects so far, from web development to distributed computing, looking to do some exciting work in a place where I can use my skills, pick up new ones, and have some agency. (Not necessarily Julia, any decent technology will do.)
Deep generalist, former CTO for startups and German government institution with a billion-dollar revenue. I love exploring new topics and the science behind them. I've built meaningful solutions in IC testing, real-time seismic activity detection and mitigation, healthcare, surgery procedures and materials, AI, security, and even physical data center construction.
SWE with 5 years of experience mostly on backend systems. I've worked for both large public companies as well as a startup. Currently looking at web technologies whether it be for backend or fullstack positions.

I mostly consider myself a back-end person at this point and I'd prefer it to remain this way. I think it's more interesting to think about the system as a whole than to fiddle with some search option button design because back-end didn't add any Swagger docs or something.
My preferred stack is Clojure and I'd be very happy to work with it.
I don't like Golang's approach when code is generated from plaintext comments in code. Don't offer me jobs that prefer that the code will have to remain this way. Additionally Java's annotation-driven and Python's class decorator approaches also aren't too good and for this reason I didn't do a lot of Spring development.
I also have Master's in Vilnius University and I worked in NLP company in the past. I didn't do any research there. I'd consider jobs in companies that use the models or ChatGPT/LLM.
Currently I learn Python and trying out d3js by writing my own version of Mini Motorways game.
Hello! First time posting in one of these threads. I suspect it'll just get lost in here, but who knows!
I'm a developer who has been writing code professionally for ~18 years, but in total including my self-taught years as a teenager, etc, I guess it's almost 30 years of slinging code at this point.

These days I'd consider myself much more of a backend / web services developer. I've done plenty of full-stack web development over my ~18 year career, but over the past ~8-10 years almost all of the frontend code I've written has been ClojureScript, so I feel I'm totally out of the loop on what the JavaScript / TypeScript world is doing. And I just prefer backend stuff in general these days.
On the side, I work on hobby projects mostly relating to game development (see my Github profile). These projects are usually in Rust or C/C++.

Willing to Relocate: No
Technologies: Computer Vision, Machine Learning, AR/VR, Video Streaming, Image/Video Processing, Codec, Mobile Apps, Signal Processing, Control, Communications, Ph.D. in ECE
I have over 8 years of experience working on AR/VR related technologies. My work primarily involves developing SDKs that bridge AR/VR algorithms and apps, as well as implementing computer vision algorithms. My algorithmic approach heavily relies on deep learning networks. Therefore, my computer vision tasks include data collection, model design, training, and deployment on mobile platforms. Prior to my work in AR/VR, I specialized in video codecs and video streaming. I have contributed to Veetle’s online video streaming platforms and projects used in PlayStation consoles. I have worked for Oppo, uSense, Magic Leap, Veetle, Intersil, Magnum Semiconductor, and Sony. Operating Systems: I am most comfortable working with Android, but I also have experience with iOS. Languages: I am proficient in C/C++, Python, Java, and SIMDs like NEON. I am comfortable both leading an R&D team and working as an individual contributor. I strongly believe that the major challenges of AR/VR will soon be overcome, making it the next big thing.

7+ years of experience in Software Engineering.
I'm a self-starter that get things done. I have experience in software engineering for highly scalable and distributed systems (I've built a few large scale clusters on a data center), backend development (containers with REST APIs), software and systems development (I love building CLIs), bare-metal and cloud systems; I like documenting projects, processes, and code; I've worked in small startups and also in large teams; I enjoy sharing my knowledge, mentoring new teammates and contributing to open-source communities. I am able to operate autonomously and at the same time be a strong team player.
I like to build simple solutions to address user's needs, without sacrificing security or compatibility. I work hard to build systems that are pleasant to use, well documented, and robust (scalable, resource efficient and secure).
Hello, my name is Christopher. I am Kubernetes, anything-as-a-Code/automation and Development Experience enthusiast. I strive to gain at least basic know-how and finally build a platform/framework covering all aspects of application/services lifecycle which is simple to use, but not overengineered or too opinionated.
I can work with anything that lets me operate repeatable tools/services/processes reliably without repeating myself too much (surely not anything M$). My experience seems to be mostly with infrastructure as a code, Kubernetes ecosystem, CI/CD (process automation) and cloud AWS
I have 5 years experience with cloud/k8s/automation (CI/CD, DevEx etc.), backed by 4 years as a Python (Django) backend development and another ~4 years (throughout university) hobby sysadmin managing own ubuntu, then arch backed home router after tinkering with DD-WRT/Tomato backed routers throughout high school.

I am Experienced final year software developer specializing in Deep Learning, Data Science, and Ethereum development. Proficient in ANN, CNN, RNN, and transformers, with additional skills in Rust, Solidity, JavaScript, and C++.
I am particularly enthusiastic about projects centred around Machine Learning, Rust, and Web3. I have developed various projects in these domains eg. A Restricted Boltzmann Machine (RBM) based generative neural network which can generate images of handwritten digits, a tokio based chat server in Rust and various Ethereum smart-contracts.
I love to continuously learn new things and expand my knowledge; I am a fast learner. Recently I have migrated my system to NixOS and zfs, so that I can manage my development setup better.
Currently, I am actively seeking full-time opportunities that align with these areas of interest, where I can contribute my expertise and drive meaningful innovation.
Hi, I'm Hunter. I have 5 years of experience with React and AWS, 3 years of experience with Vue, Next, Node, and Strapi, and 2 years of experience with TypeScript, and SQLite. During my time as an independent contractor I have run almost every level of the development team, from filling the role of a team-lead reporting to the product manager, to being the most junior level of the team; thus giving me an insight as to the roles, responsibilities, and thought-processes at every level. I have been involved with rescuing projects, deciding tech stack and designing architecture, and taking over projects from unsuccessful teams on my own. My curiosity and dedication to do a great job has seen me fit to fill roles up to and including VP of Engineering at a start-up, and I can be trusted to not only wear any hat deemed appropriate by management, but to wear it with pride and a desire to exceed expectations.
I am a full-stack dev and tech lead with focus on PERN/MERN stack and over 10 years of experience delivering software. I have a strong background as a software architect and have successfully led teams as a fractional CTO. I have worked with clients from diverse industries worldwide. I have successfully delivered over 20 projects for a range of clients, including solo founders, early stage startups, growing startups, digital agencies, and notable companies like Apple and Binance.
Willing to relocate: No (for now/unless suitably tempted)
Technologies: N/A. Not the normal post you'll see here on HN. I'm currently learning to program in Python for the first time. My post here is putting feelers out there - for employers looking for "office all-rounders".
Someone that can do a bit of graphic design, can write killer copy, can learn stuff on the fly, is highly resourceful and very much a master of none. If it helps (my degree is in Media Arts) - I'm highly fluent in Digital Audio technologies (Reaper, FL Studio), synthesizers (hardware, modular and VST), audio hardware.
I have 10+ years experience in media traffic management/print advertising delivery and manage a small team of designers and copywriters to deliver said work.
Am interested in working with audio companies, software/tech co's, engineering companies and the like in some "general" capacity - with the hope of training and mentorship in technical areas. Plus points if you're actually not evil - I'll want to work for you without pretending I do.
Have interests in mathematics, 3d animation, drafting, computer programming (DSP/embedded), electronics, woodwork and GUI design. Especially interested in acoustic instrument modelling, analog circuit modelling, DSP programming.

I’m Platform Engineer with 8 years of total experience, worked both as a developer earlier in my career and later transitioned into site reliability engineer / platform engineer roles. This gives me unique perspective into managing systems at scale, by not just maintaining the infrastructure but also being able to dig into the code, understand what is going on and propose end to end solutions to the problem. Experienced in gradually converting existing infrastructure into full infrastructure as a code solutions which happens to be really helpful when an organization wants to undergo compliance certifications. Helping teams with untangling the cloud mess and making sense of existing infrastructure (most often also providing cost cuts due to better utilization of resources or better suited solutions).

Like this Ask HN: Recommend employers with positive social impact [https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31518945], I am looking for similar work. I am a European software developer who has lived and worked on four continents. Now it's time to move on and so i am looking to relocate to Africa.
While i could find a job elsewhere i believe that the experience living in an area where my work is going to have an impact gives me a better understanding of the needs of the location i am serving. Whether it is through direct contact with clients and users or just by being part of a local community and learning about the reality of living there.
I have more than a decade of experience running a company, doing software development, support and training and mentoring adults and students, as well as working on educational projects, and i am willing to take on a mixture of roles as needed to support a project.
I am willing to consider a volunteer position if a visa can be arranged.

Spent the last few years teaching visual artists how to market and sell their art. I was able to get the sales and marketing engines of the business humming smoothly but making service delivery repeatable has me stumped. In 2021 and 2022 I did $1.1M in sales from a little over $500k in ad spend. All bootstrapped.
I'm looking to join a team that I gel well with and who have a mission I care about. The best fit roles for me would be in marketing or sales.
I've done 1,000's of sales calls with ACVs between $2k and $10k. I've built direct response VSL and webinar funnels, (copywriting, web dev, video production) that have generated 7 figures of revenue. I've built marketing sites with gatsbyjs and tailwind. I've built fullstack software applications with React and Rails.
Today though, I don't want to spend most of my time behind a screen. Today, I'm interested in podcasting, event based marketing, and relationship based sales. I would like to ultimately land somewhere with a face to face company culture that is either hybrid or in person.

Greetings, I am a Systems Engineer and infra guy who's been dorking around with operating systems for roughly 20 years. Until recently I was at Meta, when I was swept up in the (quite public) layoffs. Broadly speaking, I am best at answering two kinds of questions: "how can I solve this problem with Linux?" and "how can I solve this Linux problem?", but I have also worked with Windows, FreeBSD, and OS X. I am also a capable coder in many languages and have written both frontend and backend software, from small homegrown webapps to large open-source projects like Chef.
Most recently I particularly focused on large-scale configuration management and OS management (provisioning, troubleshooting, performance, etc). I'm great at incident management and response, plus the "softer" side of things: interviewing, mentorship, project planning and management. I like presenting to audiences, technical or non-technical, large or small.
My dream would be to get to do a greenfield DC deployment, but those are pretty rare these days. I have also worked with cloud and containerization. I pride myself on my flexibility, being a quick learner, and understanding problems, processes, and systems from top to bottom.
I'm available for consulting, contracts, or full-time.

I'm a enthusiastic developer looking for a new opportunity. I'm currently an Engineering Manager in a big Dutch company on the education field. I'm looking for senior positions, mainly senior developer or team lead. I'm also willing to consider an EM position.
I love coding and teaching, I've been doing both since I graduated 7 years ago. My area of expertise is React, I've been really invested in it and I'm willing to continue working with it and teaching it for a long time!
I've been working remotely since before Covid and I enjoy doing it. I worked in small and big teams and I've been part of many internal initiatives to spread the knowledge about remote working.
I'm looking for a long term opportunity as a contractor for 32h/week. I mostly work as contractor to easily collaborate with companies in different countries then mine.
I do around 8h of teaching a week on the side.
I have a PhD in operations research---essentially, I solve optimization problems. You can give me a real-world problem and I can translate it into a mathematical model that can be solved (often optimally) via integer programming, constraint programming, or other methods. I'm the father of four young children, so I'm looking for flexible/remote part-time work (I'm also open to contract work).
I'm currently working on a column generation-based daily fantasy sports (DFS) solver as a personal project. Taking as input the predictions/requirements of the user, this solver can generate optimal lineups for multi-entry tourneys. It is, as far as I'm aware, the only DFS solver that can generate provably optimal sets of lineups for multi-entry DFS tourneys.

I'm an experienced software engineer with 8 years building software products for organizations of all sizes.
I have a strong eye for product and can scope, design and iterate on features that delight customers.
As a sole founder, I've built a parking management product from ideation to exit. I courted and sold into the multi-billion dollar commercial real estate developer, Cummings Properties and renowned Washington DC-based National Cathedral School.
I've served as a tech lead on a team building an enterprise cybersecurity SaaS for the US Federal Government and a major US health system.
Most recently, I served as a senior SWE at a startup providing IC and filling gaps for a successful DD and acquisition offer.
I'm friendly, compassionate and hold both a BS in Computer Engineering and an MBA.
Please reach out to discuss how we can work together to achieve your goals.
ML researcher/engineer looking to work on interesting and novel applications of ML. I have previous experience working as a Data Scientist at a NYC hedge fund and am familiar with the full data stack - acquiring, cleaning, analyzing, modeling and putting into production. I've just finished my Masters at the University of Cambridge, focused on ML and computational statistics. During my time there I published a paper: https://openreview.net/forum?id=cFtt9fU7YB6, and worked on a 9 month research project on probabilistic models for Riemannian manifolds for my thesis. I'm a quick learner, but am used to operating in fast-paced, pragmatic environments and getting results. I enjoy working on interesting open-ended problems in pretty much any setting!
I have ~6 yrs of experience in E-Commerce BI startup called Profitero, working as Data Engineer for 4 yrs, and then as Data Analyst for 2+ yrs. I've worked on building and maintaining ETLs, as well as building monitoring and analytical systems around them.
Right now I'm at the crossroads, where I'd like to choose any data-driven position available, to grow as a specialist.
I enjoy working in teams, providing mentorship and smoothing out rough edges in communication, but I'm absolutely fine with self-managing solo approach to work.

I'm an engineer with 3.5 years of experience in DevOps and infra. I am passionate about making software run fast and streamlining development processes.
I have just finished my CS master's thesis in Performance Engineering on the interface between virtual machines and NVMes, focusing on userspace drivers (SPDK<->vfio). I've gained familiarity with the Linux NVMe driver, io_uring, and latency measurement for complex software systems (à la Richard Sites' Software Dynamics).
I'm looking for a generalist role with heavy emphasis on performance engineering, system optimization, or legacy refactoring; but open to pure DevOps and infra positions with perceivable effects on the company's main business operation. Most comfortable in companies with 30+ employees.
I've been deep into using LLM's for the past 6 months. Learned Typescript / Node. Previous daily go-to was Python. Before that, Unity/C# and C++. Helped ship https://ollie.ai . Side-projects include building a personal assistant robot (C++ video streaming), and LLM coding / research agents. Would be super down to work on anything personal assistant.
So, I just got laid off from a VC-backed LLM/AI/Commerce startup like 2 hours ago. Not the only one. Burn rate and all that. Sigh. Employee #1. Excellent references.
Technologies: TypeScript, Next, React, Redux, StyledComponents, Python, Flask, PostgreSQL, Ruby, Go, Docker, AWS. I am always open to learning a new stack.
I’m a full stack Software Engineer passionate about fighting climate change. Known for producing high quality code, collaborating with product and design, and thorough PR reviews, I learn quickly, and pride myself on providing great customer service to both neighboring teams and end users.
I have experience with TypeScript, React, Python, Ruby, PostgreSQL, HTTP, Docker, Go, and AWS. I recently built Waypost (https://waypost-io.github.io/), an open-source feature flag management platform that specializes in A/B testing.
Currently working as a Fullstack SWE and Team Lead for a stealth startup remotely, looking for something more stable.
Comfortable working within AGILE environments, learning from and mentoring team members.
If I can work on something that provides a net good result to our society and environment I'm all for it.
Lover of boardgames, Sci-Fi books, Good food and bakes, Golden Retrievers and all things nature!
I have figured out a way of doing machine learning right. Turns out that all popular architectures are just instances of a more general approach. Infinite transformer window is possible. Attention is just a particular case of Hopf convolution. Verification is possible. Faster training, faster inference. Possibly interpretability. But it goes beyond transformers.
The machine learning process is analogous to renormalization from QFT which in retrospect makes sense.
Hi, I'm a software developer and UX researcher with five years of experience at a digital agency. Passionate about solving engineering problems and writing clean, maintainable code. I'm looking for a role that will allow me to work within a cross-functional team and be involved throughout the product lifecycle.
Recently, I've created a rust library for geometric constraint solving (https://github.com/thekakkun/rust_slvs), and am using it to create a parametric vector editor powered by Tauri!

About me: Spent 2 years at Oracle working on the PL/SQL comipler team, this included: requirements gathering with end-users for new language features / types, design, and implementation. Networking code for client-server and sharded models. Prototype of ML model to detect transactions with high risk of bugs.
I have spent the past 2 years in academia (Brown University) and I'm looking to transition to an industry position. My research has been focused on data simulation (for theoretical model validation and data augmentation), and novel deep learning methods for classification, segmentation, and generative tasks.
I'm looking for very technically-involved roles, ideally working on backend development, systems programming, data engineering, or machine learning.
I am Senior QA Automation Engineer (Manual and Automation) with 12+ years of experience in Software Testing in Agile environment and has hands-on experience in all stages of software testing life cycle.
I am seeking work as QA ENGINEER for part-time or full-time contract work, preferably on a long-term basis, but I'm also available for smaller projects.
Technologies: Embedded systems, automotive, machine learning, signal processing, data science, real time computing, safety processes (MISRA, ISO26262, etc), MATLAB, FPGA.
Background: Masters in control theory and signal processing, working in the auto industry for the last 7 years, first on low level powertrain software then the last year or so on LIDAR/computer vision for autonomous vehicles. I've done the most work in C, but I'm now getting up to speed on python and the computer vision/numpy/data processing pipeline stack there for data quality/perception work, along with Linux desktop application architecting and development for AV utilities. Recently had to read the Linux kernel source and use the BCC tool suite to find a subtle issue in the network stack causing high latency on sensor data for AV, also coincidentally fixed most of the network timing infrastructure.
Currently working on some eBPF/BCC tools to improve GPU compute latency diagnosis and optimize model runs, with a plan to open source the results in a couple months.
Primary skills include hard real time embedded systems, safety critical applications, firmware development, system integration and complex hardware/software interaction debugging, along with detailed data analysis problems.
Side interests include machining, 3D printing, embedded system development, coffee roasting and furniture making.
I've been working at various startups or consulting for the past 8 years, building everything from mobile apps for NBA teams, to rewriting mission critical software for natural gas conglomerates, to creating realtime healthcare systems that have a five 9's uptime requirement.
I worked full time a healthcare start up for years, on a rotating 24/7, week long, oncall shift. I've navigated serious system outages caused by both internal, and external integration issues. I've written numerous retrospectives after incidents, documenting what happened, why and how it happened, and what measure we can take to ensure it doesn't happen again. I've built integrations with various observability platforms, and created internal tools where integrations weren't an option.
In these positions I've set up CI/CD platforms, designed numerous webs systems that were fully documented using infrastructure as code tools, integrated notification and observability platforms, regularly preformed PR reviews, pushed to establish better engineer practices (automated formatting, static typing, dependency management, coding style, etc), and have lead teams of other engineers on many projects.
I'm currently consulting on a few short term contracts and am looking to take on long term employment for an interesting project.
Hi everyone! I'm Christian, one of the few software engineers from San Marino !
First learner then engineer with 4 YoE. Currently working at Corsi.it, an e-learning platform based in Italy. Here I had the pleasure to work in many different areas: mobile then web as a fullstack, then a bit of infra. Would love to find a place to specialise more as a backend dev, or even as a SRE.
My other passions include tinkering a bit with hardware and SBCs, some light pentesting with Flipper Zero, coding puzzles and coding for stuff I need or out of spite.
I'm always amazed by all the brilliant people here in HN and I feel this is the right place to find challenging and fun opportunities!

Hi, I'm hamyn, 19 y.o. self-taught developer. Nowadays mostly focusing on Android development, but I'm not afraid working with different technologies. I like to explore, so I have worked as a Machine Technician _and_ as a Product manager before. But I am passionate about CS, software engineering, functional programming and KMP. Currently self learning aforementioned subjects(always will be..) Ideally I would look for a job after I had built up some mature projects and skills in software development, but due to certain circumstances, I have to work, to fund my projects and myself on the path of acquiring knowledge. I haven't applied to any university, I study by myself, that means my time schedule is pretty flexible.
Hi, I'm a full stack software engineer, with five-year-plus worth of experience under the belt.
On a technical front, I'm comfortable with a range of tools and languages. In my practice, I mainly used .NET. I'm also proficient in RabbitMQ, MongoDB, React.js and Angular. However, as a skilled developed, I'm able to learn any technology required for every particular need.
One aspect of my work I really enjoy is talking to business stakeholders, understanding their need, and then translating that into the tech side of thinks.
In my free time, I love exploring low-level and functional programming. There's always something new to learn in this field, and I'm eager to bring new insights to the new team.

Hi all - I’m a former healthcare VC that’s working through a CS master’s degree at Penn with the ultimate goal of jumping into an engineering role. I'm scheduled to graduate in December 2023 and am looking for a full-time software engineering role starting January 2024.
I'm currently interning as a SWE at Liberty Mutual, working on critical customer communication infrastructure (SMS, email, push) built in Typescript on AWS serverless architecture. This summer, I've redesigned one of our core services (archiving emails for legal compliance) to run 67% faster and have added highly-requested features to our SMS platform. Last year, I interned as a SWE with a data privacy startup called Kanary (an opportunity that was found here on HN!).
As a VC at Echo Health Ventures prior to grad school, I invested in healthcare delivery businesses like Dispatch Health, Genome Medical, Heartbeat Health, and TytoCare. I helped these businesses find product/market fit, scale operations into new markets and channels, and optimize their financial planning / fundraising. Before joining Echo I was a healthcare investment banker at J.P. Morgan.
Most of my experience thus far has been on the backend, and that's where my preference lies, but open to any/all opportunities to work on interesting problems.
I'm a front-end developer with 6 years of experience. For now i am working as Senior frontend developer from Indonesia Big tech company (GoTo Group), and i have very good experience in financial services in many company, building the web apps from scratch and create architecture flow. For now, i want to look for remote job as senior frontend developer or lead frontend developer. Please reach me out if we can have a discussion about this. Thank you.

Once upon a time I was a military officer, then I became an academic philosopher, and now I'm a full stack dev living in the French Alps. I'm looking for remote freelance/contract/consulting positions in the ruby & JS ecosystems either fully async or with with a working day cross over to CET (+2).
I specialise in turning vague ideas into robust software. I am really good at asking questions that get to the heart of difficult problems, translating this into actionable requirements, then delivering well documented and tested code.
I have extensive leadership and mentoring experience. I am happy to help bring junior devs up to speed but I’m equally happy playing a supporting role as part of a team. Drop me a line if you think I can add value to your organisation.

Backend engineer, most recently worked on the data backend (database and api) for https://apertureplatform.com/ , 4.5 years software development experience, with previous experience and degree in computer hardware engineering. I'm open and interested in learning (or re-learning) languages and technologies that I may not have used recently, and would prefer working either in a team with established practices, or with an experienced team leader with a solid plan to implement them (i.e. not as a first or lead engineer myself).
I'm a student, and am looking for a good internship experience in the first half of 2024. I am currently a Google Summer of Code contributor at the Tor Project, and have contributed to Arti, the Rust rewrite of Tor in C, working beside the Arti devs.
I'm particularly interested in open source, computer networking and associated software. A while back I hacked around and built a peer to peer file transfer program to learn Rust, including the file transfer protocol too (you can check it out on https://github.com/gotlougit/p2p-file-transfer or on https://git.sr.ht/~gotlou/p2p-file-transfer). I did this mostly being inspired by Tailscale and also out of frustration of how getting uncompressed photos from friends was a mess.
I love learning new things and am a fast learner. Currently I am writing (and using!) a more secure, drop-in SSH agent replacement (at https://git.sr.ht/~gotlou/sshield or https://github.com/gotlougit/sshield) which encrypts SSH keys and unlocks them with a master password, with planned features including using Linux sandboxing mechanisms such as Landlock or seccomp-bpf to make the agent process less prone to RCEs.

I'm an experienced machine learning engineer, software developer, and author of 2 patents in ML/AI. I'm an EGBC-licensed professional engineer and I have a BASc in Mechatronics Engineering and 10 years of overall experience in software development. I've developed and shipped end-to-end machine learning products and features across different platforms (web services, mobile apps, and embedded systems). I enjoy building practical machine learning systems from prototype to production that have a positive impact on people's lives.

Hello! I left Amazon last year looking to take a break before getting back into things, only to be interrupted by mass layoffs - oops! I'm looking for the next step in my career as a software developer, and would like to find a role either in web development (with a focus on back-end services), embedded systems, game development, or something similar.
I'm a student, and am looking for a job. I can join in June, 2024. I'm particularly interested in open source, system programming and associated software.
I am currently a Google Summer of Code contributor at the Carbon Language[0]. I'm a regular contributor to Fedimint[1]. I'm currently re-imagining the shell[2].
I've been working for a year and a half as a Solutions Engineer and recently transitioned into an Engineering Manager role in the advertising technology space working primarily with Prebid and a popular browser extension for analysing advertising setups.
Bachelor's Degree in Corporate Finance and spent several years of in the construction industry before diving into programming, which had previously just been a hobby.
I am also the creator of FinMesh, a financial data API wrapper for Python.
Eager to learn and hungry to grow in the depth and breadth of my skills I'm looking for junior software developer positions. Something in fintech, constructions technology or advertising fits my background well but I'm open to all opportunities.
About me: Hey team, I'm Mark and I've been doing compute infrastructure for over 20 years. I specialize in deployment automation, computing at large scale, high performance computing, and identity management, and security. I have a strong interest in AI as well!
I'm interested in co-founding and early stage startups, but if you are doing something really cool in corp or gov/mil (Cage Code: 8Q152) drop me a note too! I'm available for W2 or C2C, a US Citizen, and have previously worked with clients in UK, EU, Japan, and Thailand.
Experienced and creative backend developer with a passion for exploring innovative solutions. Skilled in Java, Python, C#, and JavaScript, with expertise in web frameworks such as Spring Boot. Senior Rust programmer with 6+ years working in the language full time, ranging from web backends to embedded Linux IoT services. I'm looking for Rust work either in industrial automation with EtherCAT or `no_std` and microcontrollers.
I'm the creator of EtherCrab (https://crates.io/crates/ethercrab), a pure Rust EtherCAT controller, borne out of frustration from the field of C/C++ implementations out there. Do you have a Rust automation application that needs EtherCAT? Let me know!
If not, maybe you're interested in hiring a `no_std` embedded Rust developer. I'd love to discuss a full time role if you're willing to take on a fast learner with a good hobby background in writing software for microcontrollers.

I'm a developer with 5+ yoe and I like making stuff work. My most recent experience involves lots of Vue for a live support application (WebRTC, VoIP, SIP though I mostly beat around the bush of all of that complex logic with my UI work). Before that I helped launch a SAAS (Vue + Node, payments and whatnot). I started as a support engineer for a digital product during my uni years so support applications have a special place in my heart. I feel the most capable working on them being able to provide some insights into the processes though I'm always open for learning new stuff. I'm Dylan, I am a product-minded, full stack developer that has been working with Javascript for 6 years. Most recently, I was the founder of Otechie, where I built a chat and invoicing platform to help open source project sell support and consulting.
I’m a software engineer currently working at Meta on AI systems co-design.
I’m interested in moving back towards more mainstream software development, especially if it involves interaction engineering with emerging technologies, and more involvement in the creative / UX part of the workflow. I am also open to continuing to work in AI for the right project. The most important thing to me is having healthy growth opportunities available.
I grew up with an interest in computers, and worked on a wide variety of projects, starting with game engine development when I was in high school, then professionally cross-platform multimedia application development, robotics systems, biotech, and web security before my current role with AI systems.

Hi! I'm Josh. I'm a product-focused self-starter and a former serial founder actively in founder recovery. As a child I stuck a fork in light sockets multiple times because I was curious. Now I prefer to stick my nose in people's businesses and ideas (also because I'm curious). My track record includes taking ideas at their inception and bringing them to life, sometimes bringing them to scale, sometimes floundering with them.
I'm looking for anything I can get at this moment.
I'm looking for part-time opportunities in NYC or remote. Ideally related to fintech, crypto, or AI/ML, but I also have experience in video games, online video, and music/audio. Although I'm working on a fintech startup, I'm seeking ~20-30 hrs/week to help bootstrap it and treat any project I take on seriously.

I've attained extensive experience in a variety of standards bodies, community software projects and leadership positions, and I'm keen to take on roles related to strategy and leadership in FOSS and Open Standards, for instance as part of a Open Source Program Office (OSPO). As for technologies, I'm something of a programming polyglot, regularly using everything from C and Go to Clojure and Lisp. I primarily specialise in Functional Programming and secure, reproducible software package supply chains. Also available for consulting/contracts: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36962830. Always happy to chat about opportunities and to answer any questions!
Resume: https://bit.ly/3B3o65M (It links to my CV repo at Github, pinky promise. You can also visit github.com/<hnusername>.)
I'm not actively looking (hence why my resume link is obfuscated like that) but I'm at least interested in getting a feel for the market right now. That said, I'm willing to consider a position with a great fit for my skill set and career goals.
Here's my pitch: I have experience in a multitude of industries and positions. From improving legacy infra and processes in an established telco company to scaling a fast-moving startup from 200K to 2M users. In my free time, I love writing Code That Is Poetry but day-to-day I am not an idealist engineer who doesn't compromise. Well-engineered code is clean and correct but correct above all else.
Oh, also, I'm great at writing documentation. I consider myself introverted but apparently my communication skills are above average for Software Engineers. I also pride myself on my humility and modesty.
I'd love to explore other technical positions in the games industry short of joining a AAA studio because (a) I don't want to crunch and (b) my skill set does not lay that way; other techo-creative industries would also appeal to me! Another particular interest is in B2C businesses where the 'C' is software developers. I'd love to chat and network about opportunities; if you think you have a product that could benefit from my skill set, drop me a line!
I'm Jes, a web application developer specialized in security. I've been doing this for several years, and a few more years as a backend engineer. Currently, I freelance, but hopefully a permanent position is out there that I can transition to.

Hi, I'm Jared Rapp. I have over 10 years of experience as a full stack engineer and nearly 4 years as a VP of engineering where I managed a team of 6 senior product engineers. At that role I worked directly with the leadership team to translate business objectives into engineering projects and then with my engineering team to bring them to life. Along the way I had the opportunity to present to the board of directors, pitch our company to potential acquirers, perform countless diligence exercises and ultimately navigate a bankruptcy process.
On the development side I'm just as happy writing software as I am hosting it, optimizing it or monitoring it for problems.
Most of my experience has been in online e-commerce which involved countless a/b tests, hundreds of marketing technology integrations, load testing and performance optimization (I hate Black Friday!). We also built some amazingly engaging experiences including a fashion crowdsourcing platform and a live streaming shopping experience where customers could chat with our staff as we launched new products daily. In a prior life I also built Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
I'm open to consulting, contracting, full or part time work.
I'm also open to pick-up basketball in San Francisco!
Hello. I'm a fullstack developer with a bit of a unique background. I went to Phillips Exeter and then WPI, where I dropped out after five years because of Covid and a desire to work on my own projects. My most recent and ongoing project is a React Native mobile app that helps people stay off their phone: Users adopt a virtual pet whose well-being and growth depends on your staying off your phone.
I am still working growing the userbase, securing funding, and developing the app, but would in the meantime love to hear from anyone looking to hire developers/builders/co-founders/peers for their start-up or project in the Boston area.
Remote: I only work remotely. Off-sites and meetups are okay as long as they are not more than 1-2 times a year.
Willing to relocate: No.
Technologies: Currently specializing in Elixir, Rust and Golang, and I plan to work with these three for a long time still. I know them pretty well and use them freely, though I have no open-source portfolio due to an eternal lack of time -- planning to change that but haven't gotten to it yet. I have worked with C, C++, Assembly, PHP, Javascript and Ruby (+Rails) in the past. I know shell scripting and automation very well and employ them regularly both at work and at home.
I have 21.5 years in the profession. Keen eye for detail and very good at producing readable and maintainable code. Worked a lot in startups and burned out -- I appreciate places that are a bit more stable now. I have no problem working for startups but I am no longer working overtime or treating the business as my own. Work-life balance must be good. In return I provide quality, stability and predictability. My mindset is to always leave things in better shape after myself. I do code reviews and mentorship as well.
Ideal workplace would be to work on the company's products in a small team with minimum management overhead.
Zero problems talking with business people and managers and I quite enjoy it even, though a hard requirement from my side is a minimum amount of meetings.
I take initiative, I take charge and I take ownership, but will expect a bit more autonomy, no micromanagement, and fair compensation that's not country-dependent.

Similarly, even if you don’t have a role for me, but if you just like what you’ve read, let’s get in touch :)

I'm a software developer with 10+ years of experience ranging from C++/Qt to TypeScript and React. Last 5 years I've been working as a consultant in web projects (React, TypeScript, Python). Most of my experience is from working in small teams or as a solo developer so I'm used to wearing many hats and working on all levels of the stack.
I'm currently the Director of Technology for an NYC start up that has unfortunately had their business materially weaken. They're unable to keep me on past the end of September so I am looking for a new challenge. Backend/Cloud/DevOps--Nearing 20 years of professional IT and consulting experience.
I'm a self-taught backend developer looking for an entry/junior/associate level position where I can utilize my technical skills, foster continuous learning, and further develop as a professional engineer. I've worked on some neat little projects which you can check out here: https://mayankt.dev/projects/
Fullstack software developer. 4 years of experience. Prefer backend work. Learning Rust.
I am looking for interesting projects with the focus on backend work, virtualization and data management.
Experienced developer, strongest in the frontend but eager to work across the stack. I’ve built SaaS frontends for startups and enterprise clients, websites for museums and artist foundations, and a robot actor for a theater company. I love communicating directly with clients, tight feedback-loops with designers, and prototyping unique UI. Seeking a team with a mission that I can get excited about: tools for social good, creativity, education, or analytic insight.
Hello! I'm a rising undergrad senior studying biomedical engineering at the University of Waterloo, specializing in AI. I'm looking for new grad ML engineering roles in any industry at companies series A or larger ideally, but seed for the right role.

I'm adaptive, pragmatic, good team companion, and independent when needed. I've been working mostly as backend developer, but have a taste for interfaces and user experience, even on cli tools. Last few years worked on an etl engine for near real time sensor data, and internal automation (interacting with dbs all the time).
I'm looking for a change to expand the technologies I know and find different ways of working. Looking for a company (ideally) with real impact and honest work behind it.

Software engineer with ~10 years of experience. Most of that in front-end and full stack, but I recently went back to university for a MSc in machine learning. I'm a team player, and I love helping to solve real world problems.
I'm from the Netherlands, but moving to the US (Princeton) soon, and should have my green card by the end of the year, so I'm looking for something new.
I'd love to find a new challenge in the ML field, but I'm open to other opportunities.
Experienced Full-Stack Software Engineer skilled in leading development teams and delivering innovative solutions. Expertise in JavaScript and PHP technology stacks.
Previously led a team in a US based company. Currently working remotely from Japan for a Japanese Corporation. Looking for any full-stack, front-end, back-end role.
I am a Frontend Software Developer with 2 years of experience. I have worked with some big name fintech companies and have led small teams. Looking forward to join a team that allows me to grow even further.
Looking to restart my career. I have 3 years experience as a software engineer, but I stopped working in tech just before covid and found it difficult to reenter during covid. I have worked several non-tech jobs in the interim to pay the bills. I continued to code in my spare time and have just begun looking for an engineer role.
My experience is mostly with .NET desktop applications, but I enjoy working with new technologies and I am a quick learner. I am consistent, focused, and reliable. Due to my gap, I am also very negotiable on pay and I am eager to do any relevant work that you need done. I am more interested in experience than salary.

Hi all, I'm an ex-Microsoft SWE currently working through my PhD in Data Science at Boston University. In the past I have worked on numerous projects with Large Enterprises and small startups. I am a one man machine, capable of working on Front-end, backend and any devops aspects of any business. I'm also a Data Scientist in training so interested in data-sciency roles too!
My organization killed the product I was working on and so I find myself in the ranks of the newly laid off.
I am putting my name out here before it gets too busy. I have 20+ years experience in the Microsoft stack writing transaction processing applications such as kiosk point-of-sale systems, brokerage order management systems, investment bank portfolio accounting systems. With those, there was also the implementation of ETL and monitoring systems.
Lately, I’ve been working on upgrading my skills with react/next.js on vercel and tying in LLMs to boost productivity - but that’s still work in progress.
Technologies: Very familiar with RESTful service design and implementation in a variety of languages. Python, Ruby, Javascript, Java, C#, more. Have deployed these applications on Kubernetes, Docker, bare metal. Strong and empathetic leader with excellent organizational skills. I know how to set and achieve realistic goals for myself, my team, and my leadership.
I am Sunil, a Ruby on Rails specialist with super happy clients from all over the world. I am open to part-time, but will prefer full-time opportunities. I work on a contract basis through my firm incorporated in India.
Willing to relocate: No, but 1-2 weeks on-site per quarter okay.
Technologies: Generalist; lately full-stack web and CI/CD (React, Python, .NET, TypeScript, most databases & provisioning workflows), but deep history with JVM, C/C++.
Friendly, energetic, and experienced engineer (22 years) who enjoys helping a team gel, hiring, mentoring, and building useful things. Skills are up to date, and I love a good startup, but I can also handle legacy situations just fine.

Senior Software Engineer looking for a web developer or iOS role. I've shipped several iPhone & Apple Watch apps. On the App Store, my iPhone apps have 1300+ ratings with a 4.7 star average.
I am a Linux and Python enthusiast with experience in using frameworks and tools such as Django, Docker and Nix/NixOS. I also have a keen interest in Cybersecurity and enjoy learning new skills and technologies. I am seeking a full-time position as a Linux Engineer/Administrator/Cybersecurity or a similar role
Hi, my name is Avery. I graduated over a year ago with a BS in computer science. I've worked some short jobs and contracts doing web development, system administration (Nginx, knot, sqlite, MySQL, CGI), C, Python, Go and Bash programming/scripting for automation, testing and working with Linux kernel APIs.
6 years of experience as software engineer and product manager across robotics, space, defense, agriculture, and web dev. I've been project lead on all technical projects and have 4 YOE as small startups (< 3 engineers)
Tech Lead, Full Stack Blockchain/Web3 developer with Solidity experience dating back to late 2017. Seeking a senior/lead role, preferably with work to do in the smart contract space.
I'm an experienced polyglot IT professional, software developer, trouble shooter, researcher, public speaker, educator, writer and publisher, founder and small business owner, podcaster, and licensed radio amateur with nearly 40 years experience. I work remotely from my home-office in Perth, Western Australia, UTC+8.
My experience with data started with the Dutch equivalent of Medicare when in the mid-1980's I was an intern, trusted with access to 20 million health records, a VAX/VMS cluster and a copy of SPSS. Since then I've built and used databases in many different contexts, from dBase (and Clipper) to MySQL (and MariaDB), from Oracle to MS-SQL, PostgreSQL and SQLite.
I've built standalone and web-based applications and lost count of how many once-off tools I've written to convert one data-set into another. I've built visualisations in R, Tableau, QuickSight, D3.js, gnuplot and Graphviz for clients around the globe. I've built mapping systems, won several GovHack events, and most recently, in a project lasting 44 months, investigated 300,000 lines of source-code, generating several terabytes of data. I'm familiar with AWS, Linux, and Open Source, am a public speaker, have produced a popular technical podcast about amateur radio for over 12 years and have conducted about 1,800 radio interviews, most of them live to air.
Whilst actively looking for the next opportunity, I'm analysing a five billion row data-set for HF Radio propagation, building a word-cloud based search engine to tag data, revising the eBooks I've published and I'm exploring how Morse code evolved to deal with the physical phenomenon of dispersion. For self-education I've been building some M/L models to classify data.

I'm a recent grad with a Bachelors in Computer Science, looking for my first major position. Interested in just about anything. Hello! Just thought I'd put my info out here. I am motion graphics artist and filmmaker. I have freelancing for three years. I have eleven years of experience using After Effects. I work with artists, companies, and everyone in between. Looking for freelance or full time positions.
Technologies: python, javascript c++ c java sh perl make linux.. many others, prolog to android to SoC to assemblers. Creating new languages + engines where needed. Modelling, methodologies, cultures, mentoring, coaching..
About: Making software for 33+ years.. seen many terminals, languages, designs, projects, customers, teams, organisations and cultures.. and attitudes.
Been all, now CTO of Fintech; usually wearing many hats, always hands-on.
Have my python course, coding style, some open-sourced things. Opinions.
Looking for Mentoring a team. About programming and life - with me coming there.. or them coming here. As Playing trainer, within the team and the project. Did it once officially, 2013/Ericsson/Ireland - 10 newbies, young+old, 4 months.. all seniors now. Many times unofficially, 2005 Singapore or 2019 Varna.. Life-coached someones. Made good friends along.
or.. maybe Principal/Staff engineer.. or even CTO - if the people-Manager is somebody else.
i mean - architecting, coding, requirements, reverse engineering, DIY, decisions, strategy - is fine, but management-politics isn't. i like teaching people about programming, life, 42, and how to live as programmer, without going crazy, and without making others crazy.
And how to tweak that function- interface- architecture- app- or relation, so all works better together. Nudging or nagging here-there, smiling or kicking elsewhere..
IMO the interesting part of software, is the people - technicals are fixable.

About Me: With over two decades in the tech industry, I've evolved through roles from software engineer to product manager, SVP, and CEO. I've consistently demonstrated the ability to drive technological innovation, create and implement strategic business decisions, and lead diverse and remote teams to success.

My latest venture is KindBuds.ai, where I've harnessed the power of AI to enable customizable markets and chatbots, illustrating my knack for aligning technology with market needs. Check out this Telluride example:

My name is Brandon, I'm a backend + platform developer with a little over 5 years of experience.
Most of that experience has been in "big data" SaaS platforms (most recently Datadog), but I'm happy to ditch the fancy stuff and just bring whatever pieces are most needed for a small or growing business -- while also being familiar with that fancy stuff, so we can know when we might need it. I've ranged all over the stack at each place I've worked so far -- data processing pipelines, workflow management, CI/CD, API frameworks, RPC, databases both transactional and analytical, AWS/GCP/Azure, and tons of observability of course. I'm versatile, learn new things fast, and I love to pitch in wherever help is needed (especially when things are on fire)!
Most importantly -- I care deeply not only about the quality of the work I do but also about my coworkers, and I strive to be awesome to work with and create a really open and psychologically safe environment. A work culture everyone can feel good about is my number-one priority.
Anyways -- my ideal company would look something like this:
* Most folks work in person most days, or hybrid
* Little or no VC investment (bootstrapped is awesome)
* Small, maybe in the range of 5 to 25 developers total
* Many small paying customers instead of a couple big ones
Though I understand that makes things pretty specific, so if you're only matching 2 or 3 of those then definitely still reach out.
If you want to get to know me a little better before reaching out, feel free to check out my blog, I tend to post roughly 50/50 about technical stuff and work-culture stuff:

I'm a senior full-stack software engineer based in West Palm Beach, FL. Most recently, I was the lead architect and developer of Fortuna, a highly available and fault-tolerant open-source Ethereum transfer event ingestor used to keep track of all ERC20, ERC721, and ERC1155 transfer events and token metadata since genesis. It ingests, calculates, stores, and serves terabytes of data. https://github.com/upstreamapp/fortuna.
I'm also the co-creator of Campion, https://campion-breaker.github.io, an edge-based serverless middleware for implementing circuit-breaking functionality for distributed services.
Technologies: Go/Golang (preferred, most recent), Python & Java (decade+ FT each), C (decade+, once my fav, now only for money), web dev, SQL, git, Linux, Docker, cloud hosting, distributed systems, threading, performance & scalability, some ML (plain old math & queries, Bayesian models/inference, OLS regression, game actor behavior models, not yet neural nets but can pickup fast when needed)
decades of programming. solid computing system fundamentals. problem solving. brainstorming. prototyping. communication. technical team lead. software architect. SRE-ish. author of cheatsheet on Software Performance & Scalability. former Orbitz/Cheaptickets senior engineer on core tech. Tech research, due diligence and consulting for US State Department, to help bolster national/allied public APD defenses. Indie game engine & personal tool creator since childhood. built & ran small computer game biz years ago. Wrote, shipped & sold a zombie apocalypse sim a decade ago, directly to the public.
For a recent client I did systems programming R&D on mem alloc latency and SEGV resilience, in C for Linux/POSIX, delivering new code, benchmarks, a diagram and a report successfully demonstrating how to upgrade the performance and uptime of their near-RT revenue-sensitive ad-bidding backend
Lately I have 2 side projects in free time:
* building an edu-game (in Golang) about dire threats to democracy & climate (along with possible fixes)
* writing a book on performance & scalability (in public view in my GitHub)
Hi. I'm Craig. I'm an experienced Senior Software Engineer, Systems Architect and Microsoft Certified Professional with a passion for software development.
I work primarily, but not exclusively, with Microsoft technologies and the .NET / .NET Core frameworks, leading complex and challenging enterprise software development projects to successfully deliver robust, secure, scalable and efficient software solutions, encompassing over 20 years of experience in the field.
An accomplished team leader, mentor and architect, I'm skilled at taking a leading role in the overall architecture of a project, in driving team developments and employing proven industry disciplines and best-practices to deliver successful software projects that frequently exceed client expectations.
I'm passionate about distributed systems design, CQRS and event sourcing and a proponent of domain-driven design to ensure that solutions are laser-focused on solving real business problems. I'm an open source enthusiast and advocate using the best and most appropriate tools available, providing for an effective and pragmatic solution that delivers genuine and quantifiable business value.
Throughout my career I've helped numerous businesses of varying sizes in varying industries get their technology investment right and I can do the same for you.
Recent projects include:
+ Successfully delivered large section of an ambitious project to re-engineer a number of monolithic applications to cloud-native, event-driven distributed services for a leading hospitality software provider as part of a company-wide effort to modernise entire software estate including training and mentoring staff on event-driven architecture and distributed system design.
+ Successfully designed & delivered large, global SaaS product to manage and automate music royalty collection and payment for one of the UK's largest and most demanding independent music publishers including full cloud geo-distribution & redundancy to ensure high availability & reliability for the worldwide client base.
+ Successfully lead project to develop industry leading anti-motor fraud web application and API with advanced OLAP & OLTP system and data warehouse including one of Europe's largest anti-fraud databases for a Top 40 UK law firm.
+ Successfully lead project to deliver a market-leading, best-of-breed corporate travel management web & desktop-based product suite for a company who, largely as a result of the technology, were later acquired in a multi-million pound deal.
I'm a software engineer with 5+ years of experience, including as the cofounder of a startup. I've also spent a couple years working as a lawyer. Currently contributing to open source and building projects that leverage AI/LLMs, both in the legal tech space.
I don't want to be a jerk or a anything but since you brought up a specific fee.. A "basic OpenAI chat bot" is not necessarily complex. I live very frugally and can build the same type of system for $3500 if it's a two week project. See my comment on this page. Will be open for work in a few weeks.
Ok I understand sorry. Ordinarily I would never reply to a hiring like that but he put it in a unique context of "here is a service I offer for a fixed price, here is the price" where he is obviously trying to get $15000 for two days of work if possible. Seemed like way overbilled and also not a normal hiring post. Anyway, sorry. I did post my own entry.
