As an aside, it appears that they never bothered to update their logo in the first link.

Thank you so much. I once bought the book The Best Pictures from Life Magazine, sadly lost it. Hopefully i'll find my favourite in there. It was a Baboon realizing it is no use to run and getting ready to fight a Leopard.

Since this is only B&W i had to feed it to tineye [0] to get to the original [1].

YES! Would have upvoted thrice. Thank You!

Select 1952 from the menu and see the Meola Glacier in the Himalayas.

Then look at this 2009 photo looking directly up the same valley rather than from the side. https://www.indiamike.com/india-images/pictures/meola-glacie...

The change is happening at a pace that we don't see, without the overview of historical photos.

A very bad omen for India's water supply I think.

This brings me back to the 80s when my sister and I spent hours in our grandparents’ basement flipping though their hundreds of National Geographic magazines.

> Scans from National Geographic magazines dating back to the 1800's. Wonder if I can use these photos for personal or even commercial projects. Is National Geographic enforcing copyright and license to this medium?

Things prior to 1923 (depending on your jurisdiction) should be out of copyright.

So, three photos and a scanned page out of the whole collection?

Yes.

However, it is entirely possible there are more sources than a single Tumblr for old National Geographic magazines.

Does anyone know if there is a place to find the old National Geographic maps? Those inserted maps were always my favorite part.

eBay

Nice stuff, very valuable collection. I think one of the pics labelled as Grenada perhaps relates to inland waters instead, because the houses seem unprotected from the water.

Putting these photo captions into dall-e has some shocking results.
