What really is competition? why Sony outselling Microsoft is a problem? Nintendo / Google / Apple are in the same business, you can game on all kind of devices
Perhaps Microsoft offering is too weak, but they have the same amount of 1st party studios than Sony
Sony is putting in the effort, they put some of their first party games on PC, they release new form factors, VR and now handheld, that perhaps explain why they are outselling Microsoft
Microsoft also own Windows, shouldn't this be taken into account? ;)

The plan is clear, pave the way for Microsoft cloud gaming dominance
It's not going to happen within the next 10 years, the tech is not there yet, so their guarantees for small cloud players is useless, especially if they end up using Azure Cloud, wich is owned by Microsoft
The EU is thinking short term, yet again, UK properly is seeing the global and long term picture, hence why they are the one who opposes the acquisition
