Long time lurker but I had a question that I think could garner some interesting responses.
My wife and I have been married for almost 10 years now and one thing we have always struggled with is domestic chores and how to stay on top of everything. Just today I had an unexpected guest that needed to come inside my home and it was a mess and embarrassing. While I personally find this a somewhat decent motivator, the same cannot be said for my wife and I can also admit the impracticality of needing constant visitors just to keep our home presentable.
Do you have any tips or tricks to stay on top of things now in 2023? We have a robot vacuum which does help quite a bit for keeping the floor somewhat clean but it's not perfect. We also have a dishwasher and clothes washer, but no dryer.
I would say our weakest points are the kitchen and clutter on flat spaces. I know there exists theory to solve these problems, but I want to know your specific approaches!
Do you aim to clean some things every day no matter what? Do you always run the dishwasher every day, even if it's not full? Bonus points if you can include a short timeline of how chores fit into your WFH schedule. Currently I work hybrid with 1 or 2 days a week in the office.
