NYPD asks people to put Apple AirTags in their cars to help find stolen vehicles (cnbc.com)

It's super annoying that there's no way to set these up for families. My friend recently got one for his car, and asked if I thought he should set it up on his account or his wife's. I told him that one of them will get "you're being tracked by an airtag" notifications, and they just have to decide which one of them it will be.

It would make so much sense for this to be part of family sharing (and would actually get us to set it up, if it worked that way). At the very least, there should be a way for you to tell your iPhone to ignore a particular airtag that's following you, since it belongs to your kid/spouse/car/etc. (You'd want to be able to undo this selection later, if you broke up with your spouse and didn't want them to be able to surreptitiously track you with an old airtag.)
