I get that it's an Indian source, but I doubt many people here know what a "crore" is so consider changing the title.

I actually don't understand most terms in this title. It seems bad and shady but that's just intuition from the use of words like "Facebook", "Shadow", "ad", "target".

A crore is 10 million. 1 crore dollars is equal to 10 million dollars. 10 million dollars equal to 81.9 million rupees.

Opportunity to learn a new word?

Ironically you can get rid of political spam on Twitter by ignoring tweets with any kind of hashtag. These accounts have hardly any personal content apart from regurgitation of the same image & garbage text accompanying it everyday on flavour of the day outrage....

That's very encouraging. Douchetags should always be ignored. The sooner they go away, the better. They're a symbol of ignorance and a ridiculous technical regression.

That’s a tad harsh.

Somehow the entire Web was indexed without people going through their Web pages and "hashtagging" them. Hashtags are right up there with XML namespaces in the pantheon of ignorance.

A lot of social media scrutiny is US centric. Horrific things are happening elsewhere and we never talk about it

I tried understanding this article but I don't get what it wants me to be angry about.

Is it just that a political party operates a bunch of Facebook pages where they share memes against their opponents?

It's more than a meme. It's character assassination.

No wonder Elon is deleting tweets in India. There is lots of money to be made. Smart strategy.

interesting breakdown. I would be further interested to understand the reach of these types of tactics in India and what the opposition is doing as well. Feels like a continuing trend of gov't entities quietly funneling cash and control into various media outlets
