This article presupposes that we want people to have spiritual awakenings. We don't. Otherwise, we'd be handing out hallucinogenics at public schools. Instead, we want people to understand actual reality. There are plenty of private organizations that will bring spiritual awakenings for a profit, including your local drug dealer and your corner megachurch.
At the “school” (interpret this as the mandatory minimum education level provided to all) level of education … We don’t really want people to understand actual reality at all. We want to initially foster a desire for achievement to help fuel the remaining education, train children to fit into social hierarchy they will encounter later (boss replaces teacher in telling you what to do each day), train basic social skills such as minimal numerical literacy so on average people aren’t swindled, average literacy so they can read signs and other things needed to interact with the world.
The entire early education process has been developed first to train new factory workers, we’re not going to make the children work, we’re going to teach them and then they will be better workers, and only in recent decades begun to transform into a pipeline for training young children for more demanding secondary education as an in between stage with more educational goals which range from learning practical skills ahead of starting a trade or focusing on academic preparation ahead of tertiary academic effort such as college and/or university.
It’s only once you get to university or college that you actually start getting taught about what reality is and how it works. That is when we usher them behind the curtain and show them the backstage elements that the world is build from. Be it mathematics, engineering, sociology, engineering, medicine, or others… until you get here it’s all just been prep work, full of what my better teachers have referred to as “lies to children”.
The idea that education is about actual reality is a horrendous oversimplification that hides the significant shortcomings and problems in primary and secondary education around the world that need addressing to help future children.
You're hyperfocused on the school part. The point is that there exist places for the government to widely distributed hallucinogenics. We don't do it because spiritual awakening has absolutely nothing to do with understanding reality and is utterly useless.
You can't understand reality without understanding the filters through which we experience it. It's impossible to ever directly experience objective reality. Spirituality is a tool to understand the inherently subjective nature of our existence.
What I’ve learned: ascension is the fullness of self, ascendancy is becoming beyond one’s self.
If one were to take the echo of Zarathustra (“behold, the lightning is the ascendancy of Man”), the purest mind is that of the spark gap, not the spark plug.
What I have learned of Reality.
That “Truth” is a perturbation of Objective Reality, manifest form of states collapse in the moment of now. And the “truth” is a figment in our minds, only measurable in consistency of Truth by rule of “integrity”.
Universal Potential collapses as state in the moment of now, that which exists outside of space time, that which precludes every measure yet eludes the conclusively of discrete resolve.
I suppose this magical thinking is that what we think of as true is a construction of whatever Truth is, and one must undeceive the self to find one thing, while learning pleasant other things (fabrications) are essential conveniences.
That the potential of existential being resolves into the state of whatever now continues to become is the truest source of Power!
