Frankly the run on deposits is more newsworthy than fluctuations in the stock market.

And there is some conflict of interest here between this site's owners and the subject matter.


I don't think the title is more editorialized. I agree with you that fluctuations in the stock market are not intrinsically interesting and we usually downweight such stories. Actually I temporarily replaced the other threads's title with this one ("Bank run at Silicon Valley Bank") but then reverted it to the original (of the TC article) because I just didn't know enough to tell which was the fairer description.

Re conflict of interest—there's no relationship here. I'm making the moderation decisions and only have the vaguest awareness of what SV Bank even is, and no reason to care one way or the other.

Edit: I've changed the title on the other one "Bank run on Silicon Valley Bank?" - note the question mark to indicate that we're not sure.

Edit 2: well, you guys were obviously right (e.g. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=35104396) so I've belatedly taken the question mark off that title.
