Atlassian Cuts 500 Positions (atlassian.com)

5%, mostly cut from Talent Acquisition, Program Management, and Research & Insights. Their initial goal was to grow to 25k in 2025, and they’re at 10k employees. They say they are rebalancing, so they will keep hiring in other sectors.

In the 2008 crisis, they prided themselves that they didn’t fire anyone (So no hiring that year amidst years of hiring dozens or hundreds). This time they played it a little differently.

Does that mean it’s going to be a tough crisis, or is it just Atlassian products which aren’t working in this market?

(Apparently, from one of HN’s favourites in 2010, Atlassian doesn’t even trigger views in 2020ies…)

An aside, but Atlassian refused to quote my colleague for cloud Confluence licenses the other day because we’d just started an unrelated Jira trial..
