Could Alzheimer’s be caused by an infection? (theguardian.com)

My theory: it all has to do with mitochondrial dysfunction.

Mitochondrial dysfunction is thought to be one of the underlying causes of Alzheimers, and also thought to be a potential underlying cause of cancer. And if HSV-1 interferes with mitochondria, it would be associated with both (and it is).

Edit: and it looks like it is associated with mitochondrial dysfunction - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34809467/

There's a advocate subreddit for a HSV-1 vaccine (therapeutic & prophylactic), the same virus mentioned in the article.

It's likely you have it dormant and is associated with many other ailments not just Alzheimers.

The subreddit gives a good idea on the current progress: https://www.reddit.com/r/HerpesCureResearch/
