It's been 15 years since the start of The Great Recession. There's a generation of tech workers learning that things can quickly turn bad.

I would also say that there's something particularly unsettling about these layoffs. We went from "nobody can find enough workers" to "we're shedding thousands of jobs along with all our peers in the industry" seemingly instantaneously. Additionally, the amount of corporate doublespeak is astounding, saying things that boil down to "we hired too many people" without those in charge being held accountable for the mistake.




Good points. I would also agree that everything these past few years seem off.
