Speaking of old though — where did I get the impression that back in the 1800's in the dawn of the "women's magazine" that they probably served to accelerate the change of fashion when the pioneer housewives saw the latest Parisian fashions and likely New York ads in Godey's Lady's Book [1]. I suppose by the time television established itself magazines were looked upon as slow moving.
Now of course, everything that is not internet is slow moving.
