GitHub is known for running their own DC's and hardware. But the affected services seem pretty new and are likely (speculating here) hosted in Azure which has issues: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=34515566
What I remembered about github was that they started without office, without meeting in person and did everything remotely. Seems that at some scale everyone goes physical. It would be cool to see compilation of when in the companies growth they reach that point.
