Seems like the Segway is much more useful. It never caught on but if you have one it can take you places. It helps mall cops cover their territory. I have seen them used to give group tours of city centers.
Crypto facilitates the ransomware industry, which is objectively less useful than the mall cop industry.
Crypto maybe theoretically could be used to send money to someone in Venezuela but I’m not sure that happens at a meaningful scale. (And how easy is it to translate your Bitcoin to bolivars or dollars once you send it to Venezuela?)
99% of the use cases I have seen over the past 10 or 12 years of waiting for the crypto industry to turn into something have been disappointments.
