[flagged] Twitter Careers: No Results (careers.twitter.com)

To be fair, this isn't that crazy right now. My large tech company normally has hundreds of job listings and only has two right now due to a hiring freeze.

It doesn't seem like they know who still works there vs not (or in the process of resigning). First they have to fix this situation before they even know what roles they need to hire for.

Or maybe they've enough people already. Who knows?

Or maybe they really need people but this page doesn't say so because the people who maintained it and/ or the entire HR department has left

Given the reported numbers of resignations, that seems unlikely.

Are you basing your opinion off of this one web page or...?

They wouldn't need a careers page to know who to hire, generally careers pages are for applicants.

Career pages often list specific positions that are currently hiring. A large company like Twitter will not just have a general catch-all applicant form.

So, given the current environment at Twitter, the parent post you responded to seems to have hit the nail on the head. Give things time and it will get back to normal, and we can expect new opportunities to be posted on some sort of careers page for Twitter.

People are really looking hard for reasons to be negative about Twitter and Musk. This careers page isn't one of them...

My point was you can't gleam any sort of knowledge about what internal employee information they have based on a careers page.

It's all speculation based on nothing of substance. That's why I asked GP to expand on his thought process.

Why should they waste time and money on a job site when people can just tweet @elonmusk?

Periodically, when I load the page I get two results.

One of them is for an engineering manager. Half the time I follow that link, I get a 404. Now when I follow it, it takes me to https://careers.twitter.com/en/job-closed.html

The time I did get a result for it and a non-closed page, I exported it as a pdf (searched for a pdf hoster) and uploaded it to https://rose-wynny-98.tiiny.site

For those who don't want to chase such links...

Company Description

Twitter is what’s happening and what people are talking about right now. For us, life's not about a job, it's about purpose. We believe real change starts with conversation. Here, your voice matters. Come as you are and together we'll do what's right (not what's easy) to serve the public conversation.

The Position

Who We Are:

The Data Experience organization of Twitter's data platform is responsible for identifying, deploying, and supporting state of the art data analysis, business intelligence, and behavioral analytics tools that operate at Twitter scale, such as BigQuery, Looker, Druid and Interana. Data Experience is also responsible for tools which help with simplifying data discovery, data management and job scheduling, as well as the data portal that is the main entry point for discovering and managing data inside Twitter.

You will be leading a team that owns Twitter's Metadata system, providing oversight of technology evolution, feature delivery and customer adoption.

(and it continues on)

Abour an hour late to the party, but I just clicked, and it shows me 2 openings. One for a senior engineering manager for metadata services (in multiple locations across the US) and another one for an administrative business partner (SF only).

Maybe 1 too many people are missing on the Cache team, and results are varied because cache servers are out of sync.

All hires are being personally vetted by Elon.

EDIT: I'm tired and apparently dumb as a result and read /etc as a local file path and assumed a mistake on twitter's part, ignore this

Help me understand the "interesting" in there.

a relative link into /etc? what am I looking at?

I suspect they think it means that they store things in `/etc` on the host machine? It seems to just be a place they stuff things though:
