The funniest part of that story is that anyone would think this was a good idea.


"Redbox for software" strikes me as a pretty forward-looking idea for the time. IIRC monthly user group meetings were in large part potluck dinners, with pirated software instead of taco casserole.


Nintendo had Famicom Disk System kiosks in the 80's and this is what this reminded me of.


Give it another 400 years. When we all have implants in our arms and the world is truely dystopian; you'll need credits. To top up your body things you'll need to plug in your program to one of these beasts.
