In light of today's news that Amazon is planning on acquiring Roomba, Gizmodo (and Reuters[0]) talked about the big tech giants wanting to get Roomba for mapping your house.
This is why I stick with the older models that don't have any internet connectivity at all. No company is trustworthy when it comes to personal data, and especially not a FAANG company. With Amazon buying iRobot, this is an even bigger problem.
Can't people already get this information from the city? Floor plans are already out there. Unless roomba takes photos, it is pretty pointless but what do I know...
Floor plans sure, those rarely change. But now that vacuums are starting to include cameras (including Roomba's latest models), who's to say they won't start identifying objects in your home, for example, ad-targeting?[0]
